Grand River At Jackson affecting Jackson County
.Additional showers and thunderstorms tonight will bring potential
another inch to the area. This will continue the rises on the river
tonight, and through much of this week before it begins to fall.
The following forecast is based on observed and forecast 24 hour
precipitation.
The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a
* Flood Warning for
the Grand River At Jackson.
* from Tuesday evening to Monday May 21.
* At 10:30 PM Monday the stage was 12.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor Flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, the river is expected to rise to near flood stage after
midnight tonight.
* Impact, at 14.0 feet...Expect minor flooding of low lying areas.
* Flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 14.4 feet
on Sep 14 2008.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock
you off your feet... and a depth of 2 feet will float your car.
Never try to walk... swim... or drive through such swift water. If

Gusty southwest winds and very dry conditions are expected
across north-central Minnesota Tuesday afternoon. It could be
windy and dry enough to cause critical fire weather conditions
for areas of Koochiching County because of the dry vegetation.
Critical fire weather conditions means any fires would rapidly
spread.
* Affected Area...In Minnesota, Koochiching.
* Winds...Southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* Relative Humidity...As low as 16 percent.
* Temperatures...In the low to middle 70s.

More thunderstorms will move east across the area overnight. The
storms will move from west to east and training of the storms is
likely. Portions of northwest Ohio that received heavy rain over
the weekend and last night will be prone to flooding.
The Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of northwest Ohio, including the following areas,
Lucas and Ottawa.
* Until 10 AM EDT Tuesday
* Showers and thunderstorms will affect the area tonight. Locally
heavy rainfall will occur with the strongest thunderstorms and
may produce rainfall amounts up to one inch or more. Portions
of the area received up to 2 inches of rain over the weekend
leading to saturated soils that are prone to flooding.
* Urban, low lying, and poor drainage areas prone to flooding
will be most susceptible. Rises on area streams and creeks
will be possible, with the potential for minor flooding to
occur.
A Flood Watch is issued when there is a potential for flooding.
Monitor the forecast and remain alert for possible flood
warnings. Those in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to
take action should a flood warning be issued or if flooding
develops.

possible with this storm.
