NWS Pendleton OR
Heat Advisory issued July 12 at 8:00PM PDT expiring July 13 at 10:00PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR
It will be very hot on Friday with high temperatures 12 to 15
degrees above normal. Some areas will have near record high
temperatures Friday afternoon. This will pose a risk of heat
related illness if precautions are not taken to avoid dehydration
and extended exposure to hot temperatures.
* TEMPERATURES...High temperatures of 100 to 105 degrees are
expected in the Columbia Basin, Yakima Valley and the Foothills
of the Blue Mountains with readings from 95 to 100 degrees in
Central Oregon.
* TIMING...Friday afternoon through Friday evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat stress and dehydration that could lead to heat
related health concerns such as heat exhaustion and heat
stroke.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside. When
possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work...the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency...call 9 1 1.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is
harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

NWS Phoenix AZ
Flood Advisory issued July 12 at 8:18PM PDT expiring July 12 at 11:15PM PDT by NWS Phoenix AZ
The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
San Bernardino County in southern California...
Riverside County in southern California...
* Until 1115 PM PDT.
* At 815 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms in Joshua Tree National Park. This will cause urban
and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to one half of
an inch of rain has already fallen.
* Flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of San Bernardino and
Riverside Counties.
Additional rainfall of three quarters of an inch is possible over
the area. This additional rain may result in minor flooding of low-
water crossings in the park.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
