NWS Mount Holly NJ
Coastal Flood Advisory issued July 13 at 3:10PM EDT expiring July 14 at 1:00AM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Coastal
Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 7:00 PM this evening until
1:00 AM Saturday.
* LOCATIONS...Coastal areas of Atlantic County and Cape May
County.
* TIMING...High tide on the New Jersey oceanfront occurs between
8:15 PM and 9:15 PM this evening. High tide on the back bays and
along Delaware Bay occurs later than the high tide on the
oceanfront.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one half foot of saltwater
inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas
near shorelines and tidal waterways. Minor roadway flooding is
possible in Atlantic City, Ocean City, Wildwood, Cape May and
the other coastal communities of Atlantic County and Cape May
County.
* WAVES...Wave heights on the ocean waters off the coast are
forecast to be around 3 feet.
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.
Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to
costly repairs.
Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at
water.weather.gov/ahps for additional water level and flood impact
information for your local tide gauge.

Advisory, which is in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening.
* HEAT INDEX READINGS...104-108F
* TIMING...until 8pm CDT this evening.

stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible
and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety
and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome
by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat

Heat Advisory issued July 13 at 2:18PM CDT expiring July 13 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL
Very warm and humid conditions will occur through early this
evening. Temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s will continue to
produce heat index readings from 100 to 105 degrees through the
afternoon hours. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing
this afternoon and becoming more widespread this evening are
expected to bring some relief from the oppressive heat.
The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.
* Heat Index Values...100 to 105 degrees.
* Timing...now through 7 pm.
* Impacts...Heat-related illnesses are more likely to occur in
these hot and humid conditions, if precautions are not taken.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures and high
humidity is expected. This combination will lead to possible
heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-
conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and
neighbors, especially the elderly.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat

Coastal Flood Advisory issued July 13 at 3:54PM EDT expiring July 13 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Upton NY
The National Weather Service in New York NY has issued a High Rip
Current Risk, which is in effect from Saturday morning through
Saturday evening.
* LOCATIONS...South shore bays of Nassau County.
* TIDAL DEPARTURE...1 to 2 feet above normal.
* TIMING...Coastal flooding possible around the times of high tide
this evening. High risk of rip currents Saturday and Saturday evening.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...There is a low threat of property
damage. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable
locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1
to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying,
vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including
parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements
near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
* SURF AND RIP CURRENT RISK...High rip current risk for Saturday,
with surf heights of 3 to 4 feet.
Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in
sandbars and near structures such as groins, jetties, and piers.
Talk to lifeguards and beach officials to learn about any surf
hazards and heed their advice. Pay attention to flags and posted
signs and swim in life guarded areas.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float, and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

NWS Wilmington NC
Coastal Flood Advisory issued July 13 at 3:57PM EDT expiring July 14 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Coastal
Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to
midnight EDT tonight.
* Location...The lower Cape Fear River at Downtown Wilmington.
* Coastal Flooding...The river at Downtown Wilmington begins to flood
at 5.5 ft MLLW. The forecast is for the river level to reach 5.7
ft MLLW at high tide this evening.
* Timing...High tide will occur at around 11 PM. Shallow coastal
flooding will occur from 10 PM to midnight.
* Impacts...Water will spread out of the storm drains and cover about
a block of Water Street south of Market Street with three inches of
water. Isolated portions of River Road south of Wilmington may see
water partially cover the road. The westbound lane of USS North
Carolina Road and many spots of Battleship Road are covered with
three to six inches of water.
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will
combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

Rip Current Statement issued July 13 at 3:57PM EDT expiring July 13 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC
* Location...New Hanover and Pender County beaches.
* Rip Current Risk...High.
* Surf Height...3-4 feet.
* Timing and Tides...Life threatening rip currents can occur at any
time. Strong rip currents are especially dangerous several hours
on either side of low tide and near jetties and piers.
* Other Hazards...Moderate south to north longshore current.
There is a high risk of rip currents. Life threatening rip currents
are likely in the surf zone.
Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.
If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help. Remain calm,
do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help. If
you have to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore and
back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly
against a rip current as you will tire quickly.
