NWS Jackson MS
Heat Advisory issued July 13 at 3:00PM CDT expiring July 13 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Jackson MS
* TEMPERATURE...Temperatures today will climb into the low to
mid 90s, with heat index values near 105 to 110 degrees
possible for several hours this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high
humidity will lead to an increased risk of heat-related stress
and illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air
conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor
activities will be the most susceptible.
Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible
and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

Flash Flood Watch issued July 13 at 3:30PM CDT expiring July 14 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA
Thunderstorms will persist at intervals this evening and
overnight, producing locally heavy rainfall. While it has been
mostly dry over the last week and a half, rapid rainfall rates
could lead to flash flooding in some areas.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of central Iowa, north central Iowa, northeast Iowa,
south central Iowa, southwest Iowa, and west central Iowa,
including the following areas, in central Iowa, Boone, Dallas,
Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin, Jasper, Marshall, Polk, Story, Tama,
and Webster. In north central Iowa, Butler, Franklin, and
Wright. In northeast Iowa, Black Hawk and Bremer. In south
central Iowa, Madison, Union, and Warren. In southwest Iowa,
Adair, Adams, Cass, and Taylor. In west central Iowa, Audubon,
Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, Greene, Guthrie, and Sac.
* Through Saturday morning
* Thunderstorms will move across the area at intervals through
tonight, with widespread rain totals of around an inch but
locally higher amounts expected by Saturday morning.
* Locally heavy rain can lead to flash flooding, with water
covered roads and significant urban flooding. Be especially
careful for water over roads and flash flooding at night.
Locally heavy rainfall may cause quick rises on smaller
streams and may cause new river flooding in the coming days.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

NWS Des Moines IA
Heat Advisory issued July 13 at 3:33PM CDT expiring July 13 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA
.Hot and Humid Conditions Late This Afternoon...
.The combination of high humidity and hot temperatures will
combine to produce heat index values near 105 degrees over
southeastern Iowa late this afternoon, though these will be
tempered at times by scattered thunderstorms. Be sure to drink
plenty of water and take frequent breaks.
* TEMPERATURE...Temperatures in the low to mid 90s combined with
dewpoints in the lower 70s will result in heat index values of
100 to 105 degrees at times.
* IMPACTS...Heat illnesses are possible for those without air
conditioning or those active outdoors. Vulnerable populations
such as children and the elderly are especially susceptible.
Those planning outdoor activities need to take necessary
precautions to beat the heat.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cedar Creek and White Mountain Apache Reservation.
This includes the following streams and drainages...Cedar Creek.

NWS Albuquerque NM
Flood Advisory issued July 13 at 2:37PM MDT expiring July 13 at 5:30PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
West central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
* Until 530 PM MDT.
* At 232 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one and a half inches of rain have fallen
over the last two hours.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Upper Colonias, North San Ysidro and Lower Colonias. This includes
Bull Creek, Rito Ruidoso, Cow Creek, and Rito la Vega. Roads
impacted include Forest Roads 83 and 615.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In mountainous or hilly terrain there are numerous low water
crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
The heavy rainfall and slow movement of these storms may result in
flooding of road intersections and low lying areas. Waters may begin
to run in normally dry arroyos.
