NWS Portland OR
Small Craft Advisory for Hazardous Seas issued December 20 at 9:03PM PST expiring December 21 at 10:00PM PST by NWS Portland OR
* WINDS...West to Northwest 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt,
easing overnight.
* SEAS...Around 20 ft gradually subsiding to around 13 ft Friday.
A Small Craft Advisory for wind means that wind speeds of 21 to
33 knots are expected. Inexperienced mariners, especially those
operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these
conditions.
A Small Craft Advisory for hazardous seas means that waves are
expected to be hazardous to small craft. Mariners should avoid
shoaling areas. Long period swell can sharpen into large breaking
waves in shoaling areas. It is not unusual for waves to break
much farther from shoaling areas than is normally experienced.
Remember, breaking waves can easily capsize even larger vessels.

NWS Blacksburg VA
Flood Warning issued December 21 at 12:47AM EST expiring December 21 at 3:30AM EST by NWS Blacksburg VA
At 1241 AM EST, Rainfall had diminished within the western
portion of the Flood Warning area, namely across Yadkin, Surry,
Carroll, Stokes, Floyd, and Patrick. However, pockets of heavy rain
continues across the eastern portions of this region, namely
western Pittsylvania, Henry, including the city of Martinsville,
and Franklin county.
Rainfall in excess of 2 inches fell in parts of the warned area,
especially Patrick, Floyd, Carroll, and western Franklin. The ground
is completely saturated from recent repeated rainfall and snow melt.
Additional rainfall will quickly result in renewed and continued
flooding.
Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Eden...
Reidsville...
Martinsville...
Mount Airy...
and Galax.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Little Goblintown Creek...
Crooked Run Creek...
Big Beaver Island Creek...
Roach Creek...
and Ivy Creek.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports and
pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
Blacksburg Facebook page and on Twitter.
