.This Flood Warning is a result of over 2 inches of rainfall the
past week and little rainfall forecast in the next 48 hours...
The Flood Warning continues for
the Illinois River at Valley City
* until further notice.
* At 12:00 PM Sunday the stage was 16.4 feet (estimated).
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by this afternoon
and continue to rise to near 17.6 feet by Friday morning.
Additional rises are possible thereafter.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even
higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor
this developing situation and issue follow up statements as
conditions or forecasts change.
Safety message: Never drive cars, trucks, or sport utility vehicles
through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow for safe
passage.

* Until 130 PM CDT Monday.
* At 124 PM CDT, Nebraska Department of Transportation continues to
report critical disruptions along Nebraska roads including
Nebraska Highway 11 in both directions, Nebraska Highway 12 in
both directions, and US 281 in both directions because of
flooding. Emergency management reported numerous roads continue to
be closed or impassable across portions of central and north
central Nebraska due to flooding. Also, portions of the Elkhorn
River remain above minor flood stage. This includes locations near
Atkinson, O'Neill, and Ewing in Holt County. Additional runoff
today may worsen flooding and cause water to remain on some area
roads or higher river levels on area rivers.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
O'neill, Ainsworth, Bassett, Spencer, Springview, O'Neill,
Atkinson, Stuart, Ewing, Butte, Long Pine, Lynch, Page, Newport,
Naper, Johnstown, Gross, Norden, Inman and Bristow.
This includes the following highways...
Highway 183 between mile markers 173 and 225.
Highway 20 between mile markers 226 and 328.
Highway 281 between mile markers 170 and 223.
Highway 12 between mile markers 24 and 135.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Broken Bow, Arnold, Sargent, Ansley, Merna, Mason City, Anselmo,
