The Air Quality Division has issued an Ozone Action Day for Monday, March 18, 2019 for the Upper Green River Basin Ozone Nonattainment Area. An Ozone Action Day is issued when forecasted weather conditions are favorable for the formation of ozone. Ozone appears to be elevated in the basin when there is a presence of ozone-forming precursor emissions including oxides of nitrogen and volatile organic compounds coupled with meteorological conditions such as strong temperature inversions, low winds, snow cover, and sunlight. During the winter ozone season (January-March), everyone should take actions to reduce precursor emissions and ground-level ozone formation. Ozone is an air pollutant that can cause respiratory distress especially to children, the elderly, and people with existing respiratory conditions such as asthma. People in these sensitive groups should limit strenuous or extended outdoor activities, especially in the afternoon and evening. For more information on ozone and the health effects of ozone, please visit the websites for the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality at deq.wyoming.gov and the Wyoming Department of Health at www.health.wyo.gov. Current information on ozone levels at the Air Quality Division's monitoring stations at Daniel South, Pinedale, Boulder, Big Piney, and Juel Spring can be found at www.wyvisnet.com. http://www.weather.gov NWSheadline Ozone Action Day in Effect for Monday, March 18, 2019 for the Upper Green River Basin Ozone Nonattainment Area EAS-ORG WXR PIL RIWAQARIW BLOCKCHANNEL CMAS BLOCKCHANNEL EAS BLOCKCHANNEL NWEM Sublette, WY UGC WYC035 SAME 056035 111 XOAK52 KWBC 171943 CAPWCZ NWS-IDP-PROD-3432625-3008595 w-nws.webmaster@noaa.gov 2019-03-17T11:42:00-08:00 Actual Update Public IPAWSv1.0 w-nws.webmaster@noaa.gov,NWS-IDP-PROD-3432266-3008255,2019-03-17T06:26:00-08:00 w-nws.webmaster@noaa.gov,NWS-IDP-PROD-3432266-3008256,2019-03-17T06:26:00-08:00 Met Winter Storm Warning Prepare Expected Severe Likely SAME WSW 2019-03-17T11:42:00-08:00 2019-03-17T11:42:00-08:00 2019-03-17T19:45:00-08:00 NWS Fairbanks, AK Winter Storm Warning issued March 17 at 11:42AM AKDT expiring March 18 at 6:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks, AK * WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow occurring.
