NWS Des Moines IA
Flood Warning issued March 17 at 3:38PM CDT expiring March 17 at 8:15PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA
At 337 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding across the
warned area. An ice jam is occurring and will continue to cause
flooding. The ice jam near Lehigh had broken up, however water
levels may still remain high or increase some due to additional
water flowing into the area from upstream. An ice jam remains in
place at Humboldt. Some water is starting to flow through the jam,
and will continue to be monitored as the water is released
downstream from Humboldt.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Fort Dodge,
Dakota City, Humboldt, Gowrie, Fort Dodge Regional Airport, Dayton,
Stratford, Coalville, Badger, Otho, Gilmore City, Lehigh, Duncombe,
Livermore, Callender, Harcourt, Bode, Lu Verne, Renwick and Barnum.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
Report flooding to your nearest law enforcement agency.
