Steep beaches will have a higher risk of sneaker wave activity with greater wave run-up onto beaches. Large waves will also wash over jetties and rock outcroppings that may normally stay dry. A Beach Hazard Statement is issued when threats such as sneaker waves and other hazards create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. A storm will impact the region starting as early as Tuesday night, with the heaviest precipitation Wednesday. Snow levels with this storm will hover above 6500 feet until Wednesday night when they drop to near 5500 feet. While no where near as strong as the storms we have seen so far this winter, this one will bring up to a foot of heavy, wet snow to the higher elevations and maybe a few inches down to 6000 feet. Most of the precipitation below 6500 feet will fall as rain until Wednesday night. Moderate rain below 6500 feet may begin melting snow with this storm. There is very little snow below 5500 feet, contributing less to potential runoff. Runoff from the rain and melting snow are likely to increase flows in area rivers and streams, but flooding is not expected at this time. Locations with significant snow below 6500 feet may see some ponding when the rain falls if drains are not clear. Showers will linger through Thursday, then another storm will begin to move into the area Friday night into next Saturday. This one should also produce high elevation snow and valley rain. Precipitation amounts are far less certain with this system. http://www.weather.gov NWSheadline UNSETTLED WEATHER RETURNS TO EASTERN CALIFORNIA AND WESTERN NEVADA THIS WEEK EAS-ORG WXR PIL REVSPSREV BLOCKCHANNEL CMAS BLOCKCHANNEL EAS BLOCKCHANNEL NWEM Mono; Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties; Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties; Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake; Surprise Valley California; Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area; Greater Lake Tahoe Area; Northern Washoe County; Greater Lake Tahoe Area UGC CAZ073 UGC CAZ071 UGC NVZ001 UGC NVZ004 UGC CAZ070 UGC NVZ003 UGC NVZ002 UGC NVZ005 UGC CAZ072 SAME 006051 SAME 006091 SAME 006063 SAME 006035 SAME 032021 SAME 032019 SAME 032031 SAME 032027 SAME 032001 SAME 006049 SAME 032510 SAME 032029 SAME 032005 SAME 006061 SAME 006057 SAME 006017 SAME 006003 322 XOUS55 KWBC 172115 CAPWBC NWS-IDP-PROD-KEEPALIVE-6033 w-nws.webmaster@noaa.gov 2019-03-17T21:15:45-00:00 Test Alert Public IPAWSv1.0 This is only a test for monitoring of vital dissemination systems.
