Special Weather Statement issued March 17 at 2:46PM AKDT by NWS Juneau AK
An atmospheric river is currently moving over the panhandle and
will slowly slide westward through Monday. Yakutat will persist
under the system's influence the longest with as much as 4 to 6
inches of rain expected to fall between late Saturday into late
Monday. The Lynn Canal area including Haines and Skagway are now
expected to receive between 1 and 3 inches of rainfall with the
system. The central Panhandle can expect up to an additional inch
of rainfall with this system. In addition, snow levels could rise
in excess of 5000 feet into Monday. While rivers, streams, and
lakes will rise from the rainfall and snowmelt, no flooding is
expected. However, ponding of water in poor drainage areas and
roadways with blocked drains may occur.

Small Craft Advisory for Hazardous Seas issued March 17 at 3:46PM PDT expiring March 17 at 9:00PM PDT by NWS Seattle WA
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Small Craft
Advisory for hazardous seas...which is in effect until 9 PM PDT
this evening.
* SEAS...Westerly swell 10 feet subsiding to 8 feet by mid
evening. Dominate period 15 seconds.
A Small Craft Advisory for hazardous seas means that waves are
expected to be hazardous to small craft. Mariners should avoid
shoaling areas. Long period swell can sharpen into large breaking
waves in shoaling areas. It is not unusual for waves to break
much farther from shoaling areas than is normally experienced.
Remember, breaking waves can easily capsize even larger vessels.
