Flash Flood Watch issued May 9 at 7:07PM CDT until May 10 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA
An unsettled and wet pattern has setup over the region. This
will last through the weekend. Excessive amounts of rainfall have
already resulted in flash flooding across portions of the watch
area, and additional waves of showers and thunderstorms capable of
producing very heavy rain will be likely through the weekend.
These storms will possibly train over the same areas and will be
efficient rain producers. The Flash Flood Watch has been extended
through Friday evening. (Corrected top headline)
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has expanded the
* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southeast Mississippi
and southern Mississippi, including the following areas, in
southeast Mississippi, Harrison. In southern Mississippi,
Hancock, Jackson, and Pearl River.
* through Friday evening
* Generally 2 to 4 inches of additional rainfall with locally
higher amounts possible. Rain rates at times may approach 2 to 3
inches per hour.
* Impacts include rapid rises on area small streams and creeks
that may result in flooding in some river basins. Rapid ponding
of water that may overwhelm local drainage capacities due to
excessive rain rates.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flash Flood Watch issued May 9 at 7:18PM CDT until May 11 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA
A surface frontal boundary will stall across the area tonight
and Friday morning. Meanwhile, multiple upper level disturbances
will move over head during this time frame. These systems will
interact with a very moist and unstable air mass through
Saturday. This will lead to multiple rounds of heavy rain, in
most of the area with the exception of the lower Atchafalaya
area. Average total rainfall amounts will range from 3 to
8 inches with isolated totals of 12 inches possible. This rain
will be falling over increasingly saturated soils. Therefore, the
risk for flash flooding will increase.
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has expanded the
* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of south central
Louisiana, including the following areas, Iberia, Lower St.
Martin, and St. Mary.
* Through Saturday evening
* Periods of slow moving and strong thunderstorms are expected
during this time frame. Total rainfall of 4 to 8 inches is
expected with isolated higher amounts through Saturday
evening.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
