Rip Current Statement issued May 10 at 3:13AM CDT until May 10 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Corpus Christi TX
Long period swells pushing into the middle Texas coast will
lead to a high risk for rip currents along Gulf facing beaches today
into this evening. Use extreme caution and be aware of the higher
risk for life threatening rip currents.
The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a High
Rip Current Risk, which is in effect from 7 AM CDT this morning
through this evening.
* TIMING...Today through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Strong rip currents are expected along gulf-facing
beaches, especially near piers and jetties. These rip currents
can become life-threatening to anyone entering the surf.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the

Marine Weather Statement issued May 10 at 3:36AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX
A locally tight pressure gradient along the coast has let to
strong northeast to east winds gusting to near gale force at times
in the nearshore Gulf waters and bays. Current thinking is that
this will be a short term issue, lasting a matter of a couple
hours, but we will continue to monitor. In the meantime, mariners
should be prepared for chaotic and potentially hazardous marine
conditions.

Small Craft Advisory issued May 10 at 3:46AM CDT until May 10 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA
Low pressure in the wake of a line of thunderstorms is producing
strong and gusty winds over much of the coastal waters early this
morning. East to southeast winds of 20 to 30 knots are common and
producing occasional gusts to gale force. Winds will slowly
subside this morning.
* WINDS...East to southeast winds 20 to 30 knots with gusts to
gale force.
* SEAS...3 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet.
A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.

NWS New Orleans LA
Small Craft Advisory issued May 10 at 3:46AM CDT until May 10 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA
Low pressure in the wake of a line of thunderstorms is producing
strong and gusty winds over much of the coastal waters early this
morning. East to southeast winds of 20 to 30 knots are common and
producing occasional gusts to gale force. Winds will slowly
subside this morning.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Small
Craft Advisory, which is in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning.
* WINDS...Southeast winds 20 to 30 knots.
* SEAS...3 to 5 feet.
A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
