Freeze Warning issued May 10 at 3:14PM EDT until May 11 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MI
HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
* Light wind, in combination with mostly clear skies will help
temperatures to fall to near 30 degrees after midnight.
* Most areas will likely have 2 to 3 hours at or below freezing
early Saturday morning. At this point a killing freeze, lows
below 28 degrees for 3 hours, does not seem likely expect for
the coldest locations like Leota.
* The coldest low temperatures tonight will be near Route 10,
east of US-131. Low areas, with no trees nearby, and that
have sandy soil typically get the lowest temperatures.
IMPACTS...
* Sensitive vegetation will be damaged if not covered, brought
indoors, or otherwise protected from the cold temperatures.
* A Freeze Warning is issued when freezing temperatures are
forecast to threaten outdoor plants. Those with agricultural
interests in the warned area are advised to harvest or
protect tender vegetation. Also...potted plants normally left
outdoors should be covered or brought inside away from the
cold.

Special Weather Statement issued May 11 at 5:19AM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU
THE LATEST COMPOSITE ASCAT SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS A TROPICAL
DISTURBANCE...IN THE FORM OF A BROAD ELONGATED LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION
CENTERED JUST SOUTH OF POHNPEI NEAR 6N158E. THIS DISTURBANCE REMAINS
LOOSELY ORGANIZED WITH GENTLE TO MODERATE WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH NEAR
THE CENTER. IT IS EXPECTED TO DRIFT SLOWLY WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AWAY
FROM POHNPEI TONIGHT AND SUNDAY.
FRESH TRADE WINDS CONVERGING ALONG THE NORTHERN PERIPHERY OF THE
DISTURBANCE ARE PRODUCING WIDESPREAD DEEP CONVECTION OVER NORTHERN
POHNPEI STATE. MODEST CONVERGING SOUTHEAST WINDS OVER KOSRAE CAN
STILL TRIGGER SPORADIC THUNDERSTORMS WITH LOCALLY HEAVY SHOWERS TODAY.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE LATEST FORECAST FOR POHNPEI AND KOSRAE...
VISIT THE WFO GUAM WEBSITE AT WWW.WEATHER.GOV/GUM/
SOIL ACROSS KOSRAE ISLAND IS ALREADY SATURATED FROM HEAVY RAINFALL
OVER THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS. ANY LOCALLY HEAVY SHOWERS THAT DEVELOP
WILL GREATLY INCREASE THE CHANCE OF FLASH FLOODING IN VALLEYS AND
LOW-LYING AREAS...AND MUDSLIDES ALONG HILLSIDES.
RESIDENTS ON KOSRAE SHOULD MONITOR THIS SITUATION CLOSELY THROUGH
THIS EVENING AND HEED INSTRUCTIONS FROM LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AND WEATHER SERVICE OFFICES. INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL BY SMALL BOATS
SHOULD BE POSTPONED UNTIL THUNDERSTORMS AND HEAVY SHOWERS HAVE
SUBSIDED.
