NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI
Small Craft Advisory issued May 11 at 1:23PM EDT until May 12 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI
High pressure will move east of the central Great Lakes today and
into tonight, allowing for light northeast winds to set up across
much of the local waters. Northeast winds will then increase Sunday
as an area of low pressure slowly tracking northeast towards eastern
Lake Erie from the Ohio Valley tightens the pressure gradient across
the region. Gusts around 20 knots will be possible, with gusts
possibly reaching around 25 knots across western Lake Erie and Lake
St. Clair where conditions may become hazardous for small craft.
Winds will remain moderate but back more northerly Monday as the
area of low pressure lifts further northeast. Higher pressure will
then build into the Great Lakes in the wake of the departing low
allowing winds to ease heading into the middle of next week.
The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
Small Craft Advisory which is in effect from 4 AM to 10 PM EDT
Sunday.
* WIND AND WAVES: During the Small Craft Advisory, expect
sustained winds up to 20 knots from the east with gusts up to
25 knots. The largest expected significant waves will be 4
feet with a potential maximum wave height of 5 feet.
* TIMING: The maximum winds are expected around 11 AM EDT Sunday
with the largest waves expected around 11 AM EDT Sunday.
Refer to the latest marine forecasts for greater detail.
A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Flash Flood Watch issued May 11 at 12:38PM CDT until May 12 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Mobile AL
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of southeast Mississippi, including the following
areas, George, Greene, Perry, Stone, and Wayne.
* Through Sunday morning
* Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches have fallen since
Friday and some locations within the Watch area have received 6
to 10 inches of rainfall which has led to flooding. An
additional rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is likely through tonight
with local amounts potentially climbing as high as 6 to 8 inches
as periods of thunderstorm activity continue to occur over the
area. Any additional heavy rainfall may lead to new areas of
flash flooding and will increase flooding in locations already
in flood. Heavy rainfall is also expected to lead to Minor river
flooding along area rivers.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Lakeshore Flood Advisory issued May 11 at 1:41PM EDT until May 12 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI
The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a
Lakeshore Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 10 PM EDT
Sunday.
* Lake Shore Flooding... A period of moderate northeast winds
across Saginaw Bay will lead to higher water levels along the
shoreline late tonight and Sunday. This may cause flooding of
low lying areas near the shoreline.
* Impacts...The higher waves and rising water level will bring the
potential for localized lakeshore flooding. This may cause
damage to structures along the shoreline, in addition to
significant beach erosion.
A Lakeshore Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate flooding of low areas along the lakeshore.
* Prepare, plan and stay informed. Visit www.weather.gov/safety
