NWS Columbia SC
Flash Flood Watch issued June 8 at 2:00PM EDT until June 9 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Columbia SC
Moderate to heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms will develop
over the Northern Midlands today. Periods of locally heavy rain
will continue through Sunday, which may result in flash flooding.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of central South Carolina, including the following
areas, Chesterfield, Northern Lancaster, and Southern
Lancaster.
* Through Sunday evening
* Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is possible across parts of the
region over the weekend, with some locations possibly
receiving up to 5 inches. The rain may fall in a short enough
period of time to cause flash flooding.
* The heavy rainfall will cause streams to rise quickly and some
might come out of their banks. Urban flooding may also occur
in locations that have poor drainage.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Special Weather Statement issued June 8 at 2:01PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
At 159 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the leading edge of a cluster
of thunderstorms with intense lightning along a line extending from 7
miles north of Walhalla to 5 miles northeast of Hartwell to 8 miles
north of Washington, and moving north at 30 mph.
Locations to be impacted include...
Clemson, Seneca, Elberton, Hartwell, Walhalla, Pendleton,
Westminster, Calhoun Falls, Reed Creek and Iva.
In addition to intense lightning, very heavy rainfall rates up to 2
inches per hour will be possible in these areas.
Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as
ditches and underpasses. Avoid these areas and do not cross flooded
roads. Water levels of small streams may also rise rapidly. Seek
higher ground if threatened by flood waters.
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If outdoors, try
to get indoors or into a hard topped vehicle. Otherwise, stay away
from open areas and isolated high objects such as trees. When
indoors, stay away from windows and doors and avoid using wired
electronic devices. Do not take a shower or bath. Try to unplug
unnecessary appliances before the storms approach.
Lakes Hartwell, Jocassee, and Keowee are in the path of these storms.
Cloud to ground lightning and gusty winds will create dangerous
boating conditions. Move to shore immediately.

NWS San Francisco CA
Red Flag Warning issued June 8 at 11:20AM PDT until June 9 at 5:00PM PDT by NWS San Francisco CA
Temperatures this afternoon will warm into the 90s followed by
another round of gusty winds Saturday night along with little or
no humidity recovery, creating critical fire weather conditions.
Although fuels are not at critical levels, a weather event of this
magnitude will allow fire to carry through finer fuels such as
grass. Winds will ease on Sunday but temperatures will soar into
the 90s to near 100 degrees with continued light offshore winds.
* AFFECTED AREA...The North Bay hills above 1000 feet.
* WIND...Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph.
Strongest winds Saturday night. Local gusts to 60 mph possible.
* HUMIDITY...Lowering to 12-22% Saturday with little or no
humidity recovery Saturday night. Values as low as 10% forecast
by Sunday afternoon.
* HIGHEST THREAT...In the hills of eastern Napa county and also
around Mt Saint Helena as well as Mt Tamalpais.
* IMPACTS...Any grass fires that develop will likely spread
rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

NWS Louisville KY
Flash Flood Watch issued June 8 at 2:40PM EDT until June 10 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Louisville KY
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of Central Kentucky
* Through Sunday evening
* Periods of showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall
are expected to move over the watch area through Sunday evening.
An additional half to one and a half inches of rainfall can be
expected with locally higher amounts possible where storms cross
areas repeatedly.
* Flash flooding will be likely in the watch area this weekend.
Never drive across flooded roadways as most deaths from flash
flooding are from people getting trapped in their cars. If you
live in a low-lying or flood prone area, keep an eye on water
levels and be prepared to move to higher ground should
flooding develop.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Flash Flood Watch issued June 8 at 2:54PM EDT until June 9 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Several waves of heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms
will move northward across the western Carolinas and northeast
Georgia through Sunday. These showers will be very efficient
heavy rain producers, easily dumping 1 to 2 inches or more of
rainfall in an hour in the heaviest downpours. Some of the rain
shower bands could set up such that certain locations within the
Watch area experience multiple showers and thunderstorms in short
succession. Although conditions have been dry over the past month,
heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches, with 5 to 6 inches in a
few locations, affected the region on Friday. The additional
rainfall will likely lead to flash flooding, with some locally
significant flooding likely developing quickly, especially in
urban and poor drainage areas. The heavy rain threat may linger
beyond the period of the current Flash Flood Watch.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* portions of northeast Georgia, North Carolina, and upstate
South Carolina, including the following areas, in northeast
Georgia, Franklin, Habersham, Hart, Rabun, and Stephens. In
North Carolina, Alexander, Avery, Buncombe, Burke Mountains,
Cabarrus, Caldwell Mountains, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie,
Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Gaston, Greater Burke, Greater
Caldwell, Greater Rutherford, Henderson, Iredell, Lincoln,
Macon, McDowell Mountains, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Northern
Jackson, Polk Mountains, Rowan, Rutherford Mountains, Southern
Jackson, Transylvania, Union, and Yancey. In upstate South
Carolina, Anderson, Cherokee, Chester, Greater Greenville,
Greater Oconee, Greater Pickens, Greenville Mountains, Oconee
Mountains, Pickens Mountains, Spartanburg, Union, and York.
* through Sunday evening
* Additional Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible across
the region today through Sunday, with some locations in and near
the mountains likely seeing 4 to 6 inches. Locally higher
amounts can be expected with any torrential rain showers
repeatedly affecting the same location. This could cause flash
flooding to develop very quickly.
* The heavy rainfall will cause streams to rise quickly and some
might come out of their banks. Urban flooding may also occur
in locations that have poor drainage. If more than 5 inches of
rain were to fall, some locations along and near the Blue
Ridge Escarpment could have isolated landslide activity,
especially along modified slopes.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Special Weather Statement issued June 8 at 2:55PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
At 255 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the leading edge of a cluster
of thunderstorms with intense lightning along a line extending from
15 miles northwest of Pickens to near Easley to 6 miles east of
Greenwood, and moving northeast at 20 mph.
Locations to be impacted include...
Greenville Downtown, Anderson, Greenwood, Easley, Clemson, Laurens,
Abbeville, Pickens, Greenville Eastside and West Greenville.
