NWS Indianapolis IN
Air Quality Alert issued June 26 at 4:32PM EDT by NWS Indianapolis IN
The officials at the Indiana Department of Environmental
Management have called for an Ozone Action Day on Thursday...June
27
for the following Indiana counties...
Jackson
An Ozone Action Day means that a combination of the high temperatures,
light winds, and other factors, are expected to produce conditions
where high levels of ozone emissions may exceed federally mandated
standards.
Here are some recommended actions that the public can take to reduce
ozone forming emissions:
* Walk, bike, carpool or use public transportation.
* Avoid using the drive-through and combine errands into one trip.
* Avoid refueling your vehicle or using gasoline-powered lawn
equipment until after 7pm.
* Turn off your engine when idling for more than 30 seconds.
* Conserve energy by turning off lights or setting the air
conditioner to 75 degrees or above.

Lake Wind Advisory issued June 26 at 1:51PM PDT until June 27 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Las Vegas NV
* WINDS...Sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts over 35 mph.
* TIMING...Breezy south winds expected this afternoon. After a
brief lull in the winds tonight, southerly winds will increase
again Thursday afternoon before diminishing Thursday night.
* IMPACTS...Boaters in the advisory area should use extreme
caution when venturing onto area lakes. Strong winds over the
open waters will make the lake water rough and hazardous...and
may result in high waves which may tip or swamp smaller craft.
For your personal safety...avoid the open waters. Stay close
to shore or around protected areas.
A Lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
