NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
Heat Advisory issued July 17 at 4:01AM EDT until July 17 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...105 to 110 due to temperatures in the mid
90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.
* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of high temperatures is
expected. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency - call 911.

NWS Hastings NE
Excessive Heat Warning issued July 17 at 3:20AM CDT until July 19 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Hastings NE
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Afternoon heat index values are expected
to reach 100 to 110 degrees Wednesday through Friday. The
highest values are expected to occur across north central
Kansas and generally along and east of Highway 281 in south
central Nebraska.
* TEMPERATURE...Daily high temperatures will range from 93 to
105 degrees. Overnight lows may only fall into the mid to
upper 70s for portions of the area.
* Impacts...Heat-related illnesses may occur due to the
prolonged period of heat and humidity. The most susceptible
are the elderly, very young, and animals.
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS
SITUATION in which heat illnesses are more likely. Drink plenty
of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun,
and check up on relatives and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 17 at 3:26AM CDT by NWS Corpus Christi TX
The combination of expected temperature and dew point values will
result in maximum Heat Index values between 105 and 109 degrees
inclusive this afternoon over South Texas, including Padre Island
in Kleberg and Nueces counties. Maximum Heat Index values around
110 degrees may occur briefly over some locations within the
Southern Coastal Plains. Conditions will improve this evening as
temperatures decrease.
Residents with outdoor activities planned are urged to drink
plenty of water, wear light weight and light colored clothing and
take frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets
should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather
when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of
minutes.

NWS Lincoln IL
Excessive Heat Warning issued July 17 at 3:28AM CDT until July 20 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lincoln IL
...DANGEROUS HEAT ARRIVES IN MIDWEST...
* TEMPERATURE...Highs in the mid to upper 90s daily, with heat
index reaching 105 to 110.
* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The very young, the
elderly, those without air conditioning, and those
participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most
susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures
in a matter of minutes. Never leave pets, children or the
elderly unattended in parked vehicles. The extended period of
high heat and humidity will worsen the effects of heat stress.
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS
SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and
check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency, call 9 1 1.

2 inches have already fallen from Corinth to near Booneville. This
will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Corinth, Booneville, Jumpertown, Glen, Thrashers, Hinkle,
Farmington, Guys, Rienzi, Kossuth, Allentown, Hightown, Strickland,
Biggersville, Blackland, Jobes, Gaston, Kendrick and Altitude.

NWS Shreveport LA
Heat Advisory issued July 17 at 3:38AM CDT until July 17 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA
...A Heat Advisory is in effect for the entire Four State Region
Today...
The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect from 10 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT
this evening.
* EVENT...When combined with temperatures in the mid 90s,
afternoon heat indices will range from near 105 to near 108
degrees this afternoon across most of the Four State Region.
* TIMING...Valid 10 am through 7 pm today.
* IMPACT...High heat index readings will increase the risk of
heat-related illnesses.
Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency, call 9 1 1.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room,
stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency so call 911.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Excessive Heat Warning issued July 17 at 3:53AM CDT until July 20 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS St Louis MO
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 110 due to temperatures in the upper
90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.
* TIMING...Beginning this afternoon and continuing through early
Saturday evening.
* TEMPERATURE...Highs each afternoon will be in the mid to upper
90s.
* IMPACTS...Dangerously high temperatures and humidity could
quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke if precautions are
not taken. The very young, the elderly, those without air
conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor
activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors
can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity will occur. In
addition, nighttime conditions will remain warm and muggy
providing little chance for relief. This combination will create
a dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are likely,
especially for those living in un-air conditioned homes or
apartments. People in the Warning area are advised to avoid
poorly ventilated areas and prolonged work in the sun. Use air
conditioning in your house or apartment if it is working
correctly. If you do not have air conditioning, keep your house
or apartment well ventilated with fans, and try to spend some
time in an air conditioned environment to give your body a break
from the heat.
People in the Saint Louis Metropolitan Area can get information
about cooling centers or energy assistance related to the
excessive heat by calling the United Way of Greater Saint Louis at
800-427-4626, or if calling from a land line phone dial 2-1-1.
You can also call Cool Down Saint Louis at 314-241-7668.

Heat Advisory issued July 17 at 3:53AM CDT until July 20 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS St Louis MO
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 105 due to temperatures in the lower
90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.
* TIMING...Beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing through
early Saturday evening.
* TEMPERATURE...High temperatures each afternoon are forecast to
be in the lower 90s.
* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The very young, the
elderly, those without air conditioning, and those
participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most
susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures
in a matter of minutes.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures and high
humidity will occur. This combination will create a situation in
which heat-related illnesses are possible, especially for those
living in un-air conditioned homes or apartments. People in the
Advisory area are advised to avoid poorly ventilated areas and
prolonged work in the sun. Also, keep plenty of liquids on hand
and try to stay in an air conditioned environment.

Excessive Heat Warning issued July 17 at 3:53AM CDT until July 20 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS
* TEMPERATURE...High temperatures in the middle 90s to around 100
degrees will combine with humid conditions to bring afternoon
heat indices into the 103 to 112 degree range.
* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses are possible for those
spending a prolonged amount of time outdoors or those who are
more susceptible to heat, such as young children and elderly.
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot weather is expected, during which heat illnesses
are likely. Stay in an air-conditioned building and check up on
relatives and neighbors. Postpone any non-essential outdoor
activities planned during the midday and afternoon. If outdoor
activities are necessary, drink plenty of water, wear light and

Special Weather Statement issued July 17 at 3:54AM CDT by NWS Paducah KY
High temperatures today are forecast to be around 90 degrees. Very
high humidity levels will contribute to potentially hazardous heat
indices around 100 degrees this afternoon. Over southeast
Missouri, heat indices may reach 105 degrees for a short time,
before thunderstorms bring some relief.
Heat will continue to build Thursday into the weekend. An
Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for that time period.
Stay hydrated during this upcoming heat wave by drinking plenty
of fluids. Take frequent rest breaks in the shade if you must work
outdoors, or reschedule strenuous activity for a cooler time of
day.

NWS Wichita KS
Excessive Heat Warning issued July 17 at 3:57AM CDT until July 20 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS
* Heat Index Values...Between 105 and 108 due to afternoon
temperatures from the upper 90s in southeast Kansas and 100 to
near 105 in south central and central Kansas thru Friday.
Dewpoints will range from the mid 60s to mid 70s.
* TIMING...Beginning this afternoon and continuing through
Saturday evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses due to the prolonged period
of heat and humidity. The most susceptible are the elderly,
very young and animals. Now is the time to prepare.
Heat stroke
is an emergency...CALL 9 1 1.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of heat
and humidity will create a dangerous situation where heat
illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids and stay in an air
conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives
and neighbors. Temperatures within vehicles can become lethal in
a few minutes. Never leave children or pets in vehicles. Remember
to beat the heat, check the backseat.
