NWS Quad Cities IA IL
Flash Flood Watch issued July 17 at 4:00AM CDT until July 18 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL
...Flash Flood Threat Tonight...
.Thunderstorms could produce repeated rounds of heavy rainfall
tonight into early Thursday morning which may lead to flash
flooding. Heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches will be
possible in the watch area, and the rain may come down at high
rates of over an inch an hour. This kind of rainfall may produce
rapidly rising water along small creeks and streams. Flash
flooding is also possible in urban areas due to high rainfall
rates.
The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest Illinois and Iowa,
including the following areas, in northwest Illinois, Carroll,
Jo Daviess, Stephenson, and Whiteside. In Iowa, Benton,
Buchanan, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson, Jones, and
Linn.
* From this evening through Thursday morning
* Locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches with rainfall rates of 1
to 2 inches per hour.
* Be prepared for rapidly rising water levels and possible
flooding if you are near a river, stream, or low lying area. Be
ready to move to higher ground if heavy rain develops.
A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible.
Monitor forecasts and take action if flash flood warnings are
issued or flash flooding develops.

Beach Hazards Statement issued July 17 at 5:11AM EDT until July 17 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC
* LOCATIONS...In South Carolina, Coastal Horry and Coastal
Georgetown. In North Carolina, Coastal Pender and Coastal New
Hanover.
* TIMING...Through this evening.
* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...Strong south to north longshore current will
develop at east-facing area beaches.
Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into rip
currents, piers, jetties, and other hazardous areas. Often, if
the longshore current is strong enough, it will sweep swimmers
off their feet, making it difficult to return to shore.
Caution should be used when in or near the water. Check with the
lifeguards before entering the ocean for possible hazards you may
be swept into.

NWS Grand Junction CO
Red Flag Warning issued July 17 at 3:12AM MDT until July 17 at 8:00PM MDT by NWS Grand Junction CO
...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM MDT
TODAY FOR DRY FUELS, WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE
WEATHER ZONES 200, 202, 203 BELOW 7000 FEET, 290, 292 AND 207 IN
WESTERN COLORADO AND FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 486, 487, 490 AND 491
BELOW 7000 FEET IN EASTERN UTAH...
.Critical fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon and
evening as as dry, breezy and very warm conditions continue
across eastern UT and western CO. Conditions may still be
borderline in far southeast UT and southwest CO where winds and
RH may be around or slightly below criteria. Isolated storms are
possible over the San Juan mountains as well. High pressure will
build over all of the western U.S. by the end of the week
continuing the hot and dry conditions. Sunday afternoon will bring
the next chance of rain, with chances increasing a bit each day
next week.
* AFFECTED AREA...In Utah, Fire Weather Zone 486 Eastern Uinta
Basin, Fire Weather Zone 487 Book Cliffs, Fire Weather Zone
490 Colorado River Basin and Fire Weather Zone 491 Southeast
Utah below 7000 feet.
* WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...5 to 11 percent.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition,
growth, and spread of fires. Agricultural burning is strongly
discouraged.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Flash Flood Watch issued July 17 at 5:16AM EDT until July 18 at 5:00AM EDT by NWS Upton NY
...Flash flooding possible this afternoon and tonight...
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast New Jersey and

New Jersey, Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union, and Hudson. In
southeast New York, New York City, and Southern Westchester.

* The remnants of post tropical cyclone Barry will move through
the area later today and tonight bringing the potential for
heavy showers and thunderstorms. Excessive runoff could lead to

with locally higher amounts. Rainfall rates of one inch per
hour or more are possible.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Heat Advisory issued July 17 at 4:43AM CDT until July 17 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Norman OK
...DANGEROUS HEAT EXPECTED...
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...105 to 110.
* TIMING...This afternoon and early evening.
* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside.
When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety
and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome
by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat
stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

Excessive Heat Warning issued July 17 at 4:43AM CDT until July 17 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Norman OK
...DANGEROUS HEAT EXPECTED...
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Around 110.
* TIMING...This afternoon and early evening.
* IMPACTS.. Hot temperatures and humidity could quickly cause
heat stress or heat stroke if precautions are not taken.
Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke.
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS
SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and
check up on relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
