NWS Honolulu HI
Tropical Storm Watch issued July 30 at 4:10PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
...TROPICAL STORM WATCH THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FOR WATERS SOUTH
OF THE BIG ISLAND...
...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOR MAALAEA
BAY...THE PAILOLO AND ALENUIHAHA CHANNELS AND WATERS SOUTH OF THE
BIG ISLAND...
.Strong trade winds will persist across the typically windy
waters around the Big Island and Maui through at least Wednesday
night. The Small Craft Advisory will likely be extended and
expanded to other areas later in the week, due to Tropical
Cyclone Erick passing near the state. Due to the expected close
proximity of Erick when passing south of the state and the
forecast uncertainty, a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Big
Island Southeast and Leeward waters.
* Winds and Seas...East winds 15 to 25 kt through Wednesday night.
Tropical Storm conditions possible Thursday through Friday. Seas
7 to 12 feet building to 10 to 15 feet Thursday through Friday.
A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 25 to 33 knots
and/or seas 10 feet or greater are expected to produce conditions
hazardous to small craft. Inexperienced mariners, especially
those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these
conditions.
A Tropical Storm Watch means sustained winds of 34 to 63 kt are
possible due to a tropical storm within 48 hours.

NWS Boston/Norton MA
Heat Advisory issued July 30 at 10:13PM EDT until July 31 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...95 to 100 degrees due to temperatures in
the lower 90s, and dewpoints in the upper 60s.
* TIMING...Noon to 8 pm Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
* LOCATION...This includes northern Connecticut, Rhode Island,
as well as eastern Massachusetts, and the lower elevations of
western Massachusetts.
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will
combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
