Rip Current Statement issued December 2 at 4:19PM ChST until December 4 at 6:00PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU
...HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS FOR NORTH AND EAST FACING REEFS...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TIYAN HAS ISSUED A HIGH RIP CURRENT
RISK...WHICH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
* NORTH FACING REEFS...NORTH SWELL CONTINUES TO SUBSIDE. HOWEVER...
RESIDUAL EFFECTS COMBINED WITH WRAP AROUND FROM EAST FACING REEFS
WILL MAINTAIN A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.
* EAST FACING REEFS...INCREASING TRADE-WIND SWELL WILL PRODUCE SURF
OF 8 TO 10 FEET. SURF WILL REMAIN BELOW HAZARDOUS LEVELS OF 12
FEET...HOWEVER...WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO PRODUCE A HIGH RISK OF RIP
CURRENTS.
THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS.
RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES. HEED THE ADVICE OF
LIFEGUARDS...BEACH PATROL FLAGS AND SIGNS.
IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...YELL FOR HELP. REMAIN
CALM...DO NOT EXHAUST YOURSELF AND STAY AFLOAT WHILE WAITING FOR
HELP. IF YOU HAVE TO SWIM OUT OF A RIP CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO
SHORE AND BACK TOWARD THE BEACH WHEN POSSIBLE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT AS YOU WILL TIRE QUICKLY.

Special Weather Statement issued December 1 at 10:23PM PST by NWS Elko NV
As of 1014PM PST, light freezing rain is being reported at the
Winnemucca airport. Although light in nature, even 0.01 inches of
freezing rain can cause driving challenges. The thin coating of
ice on area roadways can cause very slick driving condtions.
Please use caution if driving across portions of Humboldt and
northern Lander counties as the threat of freezing rain will
continue. Slow down, use your low beams, and maintain a much
longer distance if following another car.
Visit www.weather.gov/elko for the latest weather information.

Temperatures will continue to drop into the 20s overnight on brisk
northwest winds. Any lingering wet surfaces from the rain and
snow earlier may freeze up leading to the potential for some
slippery conditions, especially on elevated or untreated surfaces.
If you're traveling overnight remain alert for slippery conditions.
If a roadway or sidewalk appears shiny or smooth it may be a very
thin coating of ice.

NWS Quad Cities IA IL
Special Weather Statement issued December 2 at 12:49AM CST by NWS Quad Cities IA IL
A few narrow bands of light snow with additional minor accumulations
will be possible overnight from along the Mississippi River south
of Muscatine to near Burlington, and from around Monmouth to
Macomb. Otherwise, a few flurries and patchy freezing drizzle will
be possible. As brisk north to northwest winds continue to usher
in colder temperatures below freezing, lingering wet surfaces from
the rain and snow earlier may freeze up in spots. This combined
with the freezing drizzle and light snow in some areas may produce
slippery conditions overnight, especially on elevated or
untreated surfaces. Those traveling across the area during the
overnight hours should use caution and be prepared for some
potential slippery conditions.
