High Surf Advisory issued December 2 at 2:19PM AST until December 2 at 6:00PM AST by NWS San Juan PR
Large breaking waves remain likely along the exposed beaches of
northern Puerto Rico, Culebra, St. Thomas and St. John. Therefore,
the High Surf Advisory and the High Risk of rip currents continue
in effect.
* WAVES AND SURF...Northerly swell will create seas between 7
and 9 feet with breaking waves between 10 and 12 feet.
* LOCATION...From northwest to northeast coast of Puerto Rico
and Culebra.
* TIMING...High Rip Current Risk through late Tuesday night,
High Surf Advisory are in effect through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Strong currents that can carry even the strongest of
swimmers out to sea. Large breaking waves that can knock
persons and animals off of rocks and jetties and into the sea
and cause coastal erosion.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
There is a high risk of rip currents.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
