NWS Northern Indiana
Gale Warning issued January 19 at 4:09AM EST until January 19 at 7:00AM EST by NWS Northern Indiana
* WINDS...West to 35 knots with gusts up to 40 knot gales early
this morning.
* WAVES...8 to 14 feet occasionally 18 feet this morning.
* FREEZING SPRAY...Ice may rapidly accumulate on decks and
superstructures which could result in a loss of vessel
stability.
* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...At a rate of 2 centimeters per hour or
more.
A Heavy Freezing Spray Warning means heavy freezing spray is
expected to rapidly accumulate on vessels. These conditions can
be extremely hazardous to navigation. It is recommended that
mariners not trained to operate in these conditions or vessels
not properly equipped to do so...remain in port or avoid the
waring area.
A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occuring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires

NWS Northern Indiana
Heavy Freezing Spray Warning issued January 19 at 4:09AM EST until January 19 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Northern Indiana
A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occuring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

Lakeshore Flood Advisory issued January 19 at 3:10AM CST until January 19 at 12:00PM CST by NWS Chicago IL
* WINDS AND WAVES...Strong west to northwest winds to 40 mph this
morning will produce waves to 10 feet occasionally to 13 feet.
* TIMING...Highest waves and winds this morning.
* IMPACTS...The increased wave action, combined with ongoing
shoreline erosion may result in additional flooding along
eastern portions of the Porter County lakeshore. The water may
threaten some roads near the lake, including Lakefront Drive in
the Beverly Shores area. Colder conditions may lead to freezing
spray this morning.
A Lakeshore Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate flooding of low areas along the lakeshore.
