NWS Sacramento CA
Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 3:30AM PST by NWS Sacramento CA
Pacific storm brings precipitation into the Coastal Range, Shasta
mountains and northern portions of the Sacramento Valley Monday
night. Widespread precipitation and breezy conditions then spread
over most of interior Northern California Tuesday morning. This
will make for a wet commute on Tuesday with slick roads and
possible longer travel times. Snow spreads into the mountains of
Western Plumas and Northern Sierra Nevada Tuesday morning with
heaviest snow expected late morning through early evening. Chain
controls could be in effect for the Trans-Sierra passes, and
motorists heading up into the mountains Tuesday should check the
latest road conditions. Decreasing showers expected Tuesday night,
with lingering snow showers possible over the Sierra Nevada into
Wednesday morning.
Snow levels forecast to be around 4000 to 5500 feet Monday night
into Tuesday, lowering to 3500 to 4500 feet Tuesday night into
Wednesday morning. Snow fall amounts of 4 to 12 inches expected
above 5000 feet with locally higher amounts over Lassen Peak.
Forecast rainfall amounts in the Central Valley range from under
a tenth in the Northern San Joaquin Valley to above half an inch
in the Northern Sacrament Valley. Around an inch or rain is
expected in the wetter foothills locations.

NWS Chicago IL
Small Craft Advisory issued January 19 at 5:59AM CST until January 20 at 9:00AM CST by NWS Chicago IL
* WINDS...Northwest to 30 kt.
* SIGNIFICANT WAVES...to 6 ft.
* OCCASIONAL WAVES...to 8 ft.
* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...Strong winds and air temperatures in the
single digits will result in a risk for heavy freezing spray.
A Heavy Freezing Spray Warning means heavy freezing spray is
expected to rapidly accumulate on vessels. These conditions can
be extremely hazardous to navigation. It is recommended that
mariners not trained to operate in these conditions or vessels
not properly equipped to do so...remain in port or avoid the
warning area.
A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
