NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI
Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 6:51PM EST by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI
At 645 PM EST, moderate to heavy lake-effect snow showers were
affecting the Lake Huron shoreline from Port Austin to Port Huron.
General movement of the embedded heavy snow bursts is to south at 30
mph.
Locations impacted include...
Port Huron, St. Clair, Croswell, Harbor Beach, Lexington, Port
Sanilac, Port Hope, Forestville, Lakeport, Marysville, Carsonville,
Applegate, Forester, Helena, Blaine, North Street, Birch Beach, White
Rock, Amador and Wadhams.
Visibilities will drop quickly to around a quarter of a mile in the
most intense snow bursts. Snowfall rates will approach an inch per
hour.
Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this dangerous
snow squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads
are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the
squall passes your location.
