NWS Upton NY
Coastal Flood Advisory issued April 9 at 2:16PM EDT until April 10 at 1:00AM EDT by NWS Upton NY
* WHAT...While minor coastal flooding may continue through 3 pm in
isolated spots, water levels are receding and the threat for
widespread coastal flooding has ended. Another round of coastal
flooding is expected tonight.
* WHERE...Southern Nassau County.
* WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 1 AM EDT Friday.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor to locally moderate flooding is
expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront
and shoreline. Expect 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground
level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Several roads and low
lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and
homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will
experience shallow flooding. Vehicles parked in the most
vulnerable areas near the waterfront may become flooded.
* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 4 to 6 ft along the
Atlantic ocean beachfront will likely result in beach erosion
during the times of high tide, but dune impacts appear limited.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Special Weather Statement issued April 9 at 1:53PM CDT by NWS La Crosse WI
Occasional snow showers will move across the area for the
remainder of the afternoon. With the more intense showers, expect
the visibility to be reduced to under a mile at times, possibly as
low as a quarter mile, and for wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph. Some
minor snow accumulations will also occur on grassy and elevated
surfaces.
If traveling today, be prepared for rapid reductions in visibility
in the snow showers. Travel on north/south roads will be more
difficult with the gusty winds.
