NWS Springfield MO
Wind Advisory issued April 12 at 7:16AM CDT until April 13 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Springfield MO
* WHAT...For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as
low as 29 expected. For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 20
to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east
central, south central, southwest and west central Missouri.
* WHEN...For the Freeze Warning, from 1 AM to 10 AM CDT Monday.
For the Wind Advisory, from 4 PM this afternoon to 7 AM CDT
Monday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
result. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A powerhouse spring storm system will
deliver very strong northerly winds Sunday evening, with gusts
up to 55 MPH possible. In conjunction with these winds, a strong
push of cold air will spread over the region late tonight with
most locations likely to experience several hours of sub-
freezing temperatures.
Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

NWS Fairbanks AK
Special Weather Statement issued April 12 at 4:51AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK
A weather system will move across the Interior tonight and Monday
bringing a mix of rain and snow. Rain is most likely in areas
below 1500 feet in elevation. Areas above 1500 feet will see
mostly snow with this event. For areas below 1500 feet, including
Fairbanks, the precipitation is likely to start off as rain Sunday
evening and will transition to snow after midnight Sunday night.
The precipitation is expected to change back over to rain by
Monday afternoon. At the moment, snowfall totals above 1500 feet
look to be in the 1 to 3 inch range for this event. For lower
elevations, snowfall totals will generally be less than an inch
given the warm temperatures and wet nature of any potential snow.
