NWS Wilmington NC
Beach Hazards Statement issued April 23 at 8:09PM EDT until April 24 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC
* WHAT...Moderate rip current risk and strong south to north
longshore currents are expected for Friday.
* WHERE...In South Carolina, Coastal Horry and Coastal
Georgetown Counties. In North Carolina, Coastal Pender and
Coastal New Hanover Counties.
* WHEN...From 6 AM EDT Friday through Friday evening.
* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into rip
currents, piers, jetties, and other hazardous areas. Often, if the
longshore current is strong enough, it will sweep swimmers off
their feet, making it difficult to return to shore.
Caution should be used when in or near the water. Check with the
lifeguards before entering the ocean for possible hazards you may
be swept into.

NWS Charleston SC
Flood Advisory issued April 23 at 8:39PM EDT until April 23 at 10:15PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC
The National Weather Service in Charleston has extended the
* Flood Advisory for...
Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...
Colleton County in southeastern South Carolina...
Berkeley County in southeastern South Carolina...
Dorchester County in southeastern South Carolina...
* Until 1015 PM EDT.
* At 837 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated light rain falling across
much of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Although additional
rainfall amounts should be light through 1015 PM, much of the area
has received between 2 and 6 inches of rainfall over the past
several hours. Flooding is ongoing in some areas, especially in
portions of Charleston County, so it will take time for flood
waters to recede. The Flood Advisory is being extended for this
reason.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Goose Creek,
Hanahan, Moncks Corner, McClellanville, Edisto Beach, Fort Sumter,
Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Daniel Island, Givhans Ferry
State Park, Naval Weapons Station Charleston and Johns Island.
Do not drive into areas where water covers the roadway. The water may
be too deep to cross safely. Make the smart choice, turn around,
don't drown.
