storms were slow moving with erratic motions.

in roads. Motorists should use caution to avoid hydroplaning.

At 621 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located over Crittenden, or
near Churchland, moving southeast at 35 mph.
Wind gusts in excess of 40 to 50 mph are possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Virginia Beach, Newport News, Hampton, Ocean View, Kempsville,
Virginia Wesleyan University, Hampton University, Old Dominion
University, Downtown Norfolk, Regent University, Great Bridge, Deep
Creek, Downtown Portsmouth, Churchland, Norfolk State University,
Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Northampton.
People at Obici Hospital, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center,
Military Circle, NMRTC Portsmouth, Belle Harbour Hospital, and
Sentara Princess Anne Hospital should seek safe shelter immediately!
Strong wind gusts are possible with this storm. These wind gusts are
capable of knocking down tree limbs, small or weakened trees, and
blowing around trash cans, potted plants, lawn furniture, and other
light outdoor objects.
Motorists should use extra caution in the vicinity of this storm. Be
prepared for rapid changes in weather and road conditions. Heavy rain
could cause ponding of water on roads, and possible minor flooding of
ditches and poor drainage areas.

At 629 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 54 nm east of Palm Beach to 24 nm
east of Delray Beach to 8 nm east of Hallandale, moving east at 25
knots.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.
Waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on the alert in
case warnings are issued for waterspout development.
