NWS Gray ME
Winter Storm Watch issued April 25 at 3:16PM EDT until April 27 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Gray ME
...HEAVY WET SNOW POSSIBLE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY...
.A classic nor'easter will lead to a very difficult forecast
starting Sunday night through Monday. This is expected to be a
significant system with around 1 inch of liquid equivalent
precipitation. It will also be a cold storm with temperatures
falling into the 30s as the heaviest precipitation moves in
overnight. This will lead to areas of heavy wet snow developing,
especially at the higher elevation. Some accumulation is expected
down into lower elevations as well, and given the expected impacts
from tree damage a winter storm watch is highlighting areas most
likely to see more than 4 inches of snow on average. There remains
a chance that snowfall amounts could be higher, or that
precipitation remains mostly rain or snow does not accumulate
efficiently. The forecast is expected to be somewhat fluid until
shortly before precipitation begins.
* WHAT...Heavy wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to
7 inches possible, with locally higher amounts in the mountains.
* WHERE...Portions of northern New Hampshire and west central
and western Maine.
* WHEN...From Sunday evening through Monday evening.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Heavy
wet snow would likely cause downed limbs and power outages.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
