NWS Cleveland OH
Lakeshore Flood Warning issued April 26 at 9:31PM EDT until April 27 at 4:00AM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH
* WHAT...Lakeshore flooding. At 925 PM the water level at Toledo
was 73 inches above low water datum. At Marblehead, the water
level was 66 inches at 925 PM. The water level has peaked at
this time as winds are beginning to slowly diminish across the
western end of the lake. As winds continue to decrease through
the rest of the night, the water levels will stabilize around 64
inches above low water datum. The high water levels that
resulted in flooding from Port Clinton to Vermilion and
including the Lake Erie Islands will continue to recede
overnight. Although, the abnormally high lake water levels will
continue to result in typical flooding that has been experienced
over recent months as the lake calms down. The lakeshore
flooding is not receding as fast as expected and therefore the
flood warning has been extended.
* WHERE...Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky and Erie Counties.
* WHEN...Until 4 AM EDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Numerous roads closed and low lying property
including parking lots, lawns, homes, and businesses will be
inundated near the lake. Some shoreline erosion will occur.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.
