NWS Raleigh NC
Special Weather Statement issued June 11 at 1:14PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC
At 111 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall along a line extending
from 7 miles southwest of Nashville to 7 miles northwest of Clinton.
Movement was northeast at 25 mph. This includes Interstate 95
between Benson and Roanoke Rapids and Interstate 40 between Benson
and Warsaw.
Heavy rain and minor flooding are possible with these storms.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph will also be possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Goldsboro, Roanoke Rapids, Smithfield, Clinton,
Nashville, Halifax, Wilson, Mount Olive and Benson.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways. Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and
result in ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying
areas, and minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor
drainage. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to
avoid hydroplaning.
Wind gusts as high as 40 mph are capable of knocking down tree limbs
and blowing around light outdoor objects.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
Nash County in central North Carolina...
East central Wake County in central North Carolina...
Western Wilson County in central North Carolina...
Northeastern Johnston County in central North Carolina...
Central Franklin County in central North Carolina...
* Until 430 PM EDT.
* At 136 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rocky Mount, Smithfield, Nashville, Wilson, Clayton, Zebulon, Elm
City, Dortches, Bailey and Bunn.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Do not
