NWS Charleston SC
Flood Advisory issued June 11 at 3:18PM EDT until June 11 at 5:15PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a
* Flood Advisory for Minor Flooding in...
Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...
Berkeley County in southeastern South Carolina...
Dorchester County in southeastern South Carolina...
* Until 515 PM EDT.
* At 312 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.
Doppler radar estimates that up to an inch has already fallen
around the Knightsville area. This heavy rain will impact the
Summerville area with intense rainfall rates through the next 1 to
2 hours.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
North Charleston, Summerville, Goose Creek, Ladson, Ridgeville,
Sangaree, Jedburg, Knightsville and College Park.
Through the late afternoon, heavy rainfall from thunderstorms will
produce rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches in and around Summerville.
The intense rainfall will cause poor travel conditions on area
roadways, and flooding of some roadways and intersections can be
expected in and around Summerville including Interstate 26, Highway
78, and Highway 17 Alternate.
This heavy rainfall will result in significant ponding of water on
area roads and in low spots. Slow down to reduce the risk of
hydroplaning. If water covers the entire roadway or is flowing, find
another route. The water is probably much deeper than it appears and
only one foot of water can stall a vehicle. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice, turn around, don't drown.
Do not drive into areas where water covers the roadway. The water may
be too deep to cross safely. Make the smart choice, turn around,
don't drown.

NWS Miami FL
Hydrologic Outlook issued June 11 at 3:20PM EDT by NWS Miami FL
Deep tropical moisture is forecast to work into South Florida from
the Carribean and Gulf of Mexico this weekend into next week. As
a result, several rounds of showers and thunderstorms capable of
producing torrential rainfall across the outlook area can be
expected especially for the metro and coastal areas of Palm Beach,
Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties due to a south to southwest wind
flow.
The latest model runs are indicating total rainfall amounts of 2
to 4 inches are possible with locally higher amounts up to 6
inches this weekend into early next week. With the grounds still
somewhat saturated from the heavy rains that have occurred over
South Florida during the last couple of weeks, and the additional
rainfall amounts mentioned above, a Flood Watch may be needed for
portions of South Florida sometime this weekend into next week.
Interests across South Florida are strongly encouraged to monitor
the latest information from the National Weather Service in Miami
Florida to prepare for the potential of heavy rain and flooding
this weekend into next week.

Marine Weather Statement issued June 11 at 3:20PM EDT by NWS Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
The areas affected include...
Coastal waters from Englewood to Tarpon Springs FL out 20 NM...
Tampa Bay waters...
Waters from Englewood to Tarpon Springs FL out 20 to 60 NM...
Although conditions are generally quiet over the coastal waters late
this afternoon, rapid thunderstorm development is anticipated in the
vicinity of the coast between 400 and 600 PM EDT. These storms will
then drift quickly westward and offshore. Boaters over the coastal
waters...and also within the waters of Tampa Bay should be aware of
this expected change in weather conditions and be prepared to
quickly seek safe harbor should storm threaten.
Thunderstorm will likely contain deadly lightning, strong wind
gusts, and very low visibility in heavy rainfall. Boaters should
consider seeking safe harbor instead of waiting for storms to
develop and threaten.
