NWS Little Rock AR
Air Quality Alert issued June 19 at 4:15AM CDT by NWS Little Rock AR
AQALZK
The ozone forecast for today, June 19th, is Code Orange, which means
it is time to get serious about ozone pollution in central Arkansas.
The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and the Arkansas
Department of Health have declared an Ozone Action Advisory for
today in Faulkner, Grant, Lonoke, Perry, Pulaski, and Saline
Counties.
Code Orange conditions are unhealthy for sensitive groups. Active
children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as
asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion. Symptoms of ozone
exposure may include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing,
headaches, nausea, and eye and throat irritation.
To help reduce ozone formation, avoid driving at peak times during
the day, such as lunchtime. Postpone or combine errands. Keep your
car well tuned and avoid jack rabbit starts and excessive idling.
Refuel motor vehicles and mow lawns during the late afternoon or
evening hours only.
For more information on ozone, contact Metro Plan at 501-372-3300.
For more information on health effects, call the Arkansas Department
of Health at 501-661-2000. Additional information may also be
obtained from the air division of the Arkansas Department of
Environmental Quality at 501-682-0744.

Flash Flood Warning issued June 19 at 5:48AM EDT until June 19 at 6:30AM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
At 544 AM EDT, the rain had moved to the east of the warned area,
but water levels were still running high on streams and creeks. Up
to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Automated gauges.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage
and low lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Longview, Hildebran, South Mountains State Park, Mountain View,
Pleasant Grove, Cooksville, Propst, Hickory and Icard.
The stream gage on the Jacob Fork at Ramsey was at 11.5 feet and
falling. However, high water was still expected downstream in
Catawba County along Jacob Fork River Road near Cooksville.

dangers of flooding.
Numerous roads, parking lots and bridges will be threatened by heavy
rain and rapidly rising streams and creeks. Please pay close
attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area. Obey all
barricades, even if water is not currently over the road. Barricades

flowing over roads or threatening property to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by posting on
