NWS Mobile AL
Marine Weather Statement issued June 24 at 3:55AM CDT by NWS Mobile AL
At 354 AM CDT...A strong thunderstorm was located 28 nm south of
Okaloosa Deep Water Reef, or 53 nm south of Destin...moving northeast
at 10 knots.
This storm will remain over mainly open waters.
The primary threats from this storm are wind gusts up to 30 knots...
locally higher waves...and heavy downpours. Boaters should consider
seeking safe harbor until this storm has passed.
Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible and keep away from metal
objects.
Weather conditions support the development of waterspouts.
Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous
waves and seas. If a waterspout is sighted...seek safe harbor
immediately.
