NWS Raleigh NC
Special Weather Statement issued August 6 at 3:12AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC
At 311 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Hillsborough, moving northeast at 20 mph.
Heavy rain and minor flooding and deadly cloud to ground lightning
will be possible with this storm.
Locations impacted include...
Roxboro, Hillsborough, Rougemont, Carr, Mayo Reservoir, Bahama,
Schley, Bethel Hill, Bushy Fork and Moriah.
Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
40 mph are capable of knocking down tree limbs and blowing around
trash cans, potted plants, lawn furniture and other light outdoor
objects.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid
hydroplaning, especially in urban areas where prolonged heavy rain
can quickly lead to flooding.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

NWS Mount Holly NJ
Flash Flood Watch issued August 6 at 3:37AM EDT until August 7 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Delaware, northeast
Maryland, southern New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania,
including the following areas, in Delaware, Delaware Beaches,
Inland Sussex, Kent, and New Castle. In northeast Maryland,
Caroline, Cecil, Kent MD, Queen Annes, and Talbot. In southern
New Jersey, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem. In
southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern
Montgomery, Philadelphia, Western Chester, and Western
Montgomery.
* Through Friday morning.
* Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing locally
heavy rain are possible from this morning through tonight. The
ground remains saturated in the region due to the recent heavy
rains associated with Tropical Storm Isaias. This will make it
easier than usual for flash flooding to occur in areas that
receive heavy rainfall over a short duration.
* Areas of flash flooding are expected, especially in urban and
flood-prone areas. Small streams and creeks will also be
susceptible to flooding, especially those that remain elevated
from antecedent rainfall.
A Flash Flood Watch means that there is the potential for flash
flooding which can be life-threatening. Heavy rain is expected to
occur over a short period of time. Rapidly rising flood waters
may quickly inundate roadways and areas of poor drainage. Streams
and creeks could leave their banks, flooding nearby properties.
Please monitor the forecast, especially if you live in a location
that is prone to flooding. Be prepared to take action if a flash
flood warning is issued for your area.
