Flood Watch issued August 11 at 5:44AM AKDT until August 12 at 8:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK
...Flooding Possible of Creeks and Rivers Draining the Alaska
Range from Tanacross to Delta Junction, and from Delta Junction
to Black Rapids from now through Wednesday...
The Flood Watch continues for
* Creeks and Rivers Draining the Alaska Range from Delta Junction
to Black Rapids.
* Through Wednesday morning
* Over 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen since Sunday over
the Alaska Range from the Delta River east. Another half inch to
1 inch of rain is expected through Wednesday.
* Expect this rain to cause flooding of some streams and creeks
along the Alaska Range now through early Wednesday from Delta
Junction to Black Rapids.
* Due to the heavy rain occuring in steep terrain, there is the
possibility of rock and mud slides in the Alaska Range from the
Delta River east. Rain of this type has the potential to wash
out portions of the Richardson Highway between Delta Junction
and Black Rapids.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on

Special Weather Statement issued August 11 at 5:44AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK
Over 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen since Sunday on the
north side of the Alaska Range between the Delta River and
Tanacross. 1 to 2 inches has fallen north of there, extending up
towards Eagle Summit. This large area includes the Delta,
Robertson, Goodpaster, and Charley River basins, as well as the
upper Salcha River basin. Rain showers will continue in these
areas through tonight before beginning to taper off on Wednesday.
An additional 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain is possible through
Wednesday. Expect sharp rises in rivers, creeks, and streams in
these areas, with the possibility for flooding. Flood Watches
remain in effect.
Most of the rain will occur east of Fairbanks, but rivers near
Fairbanks including the Chena and Tanana, are expected to see
rises. Currently, none of them are expected to reach flood stage.
