NWS Denver CO
Air Quality Alert issued September 25 at 6:10PM MDT by NWS Denver CO
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...
WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.
WHERE...Routt, Jackson, and Larimer counties. Locations include,
but are not limited to Steamboat Springs, Clark, Walden, Cowdrey,
Red Feather Lakes, Rustic, Wellington, and Fort Collins.
WHEN...900 AM Friday September 25 to 900 AM Saturday September 26
IMPACTS...Increased fire activity at the Middle Fork, Mullen, and
Cameron Peak wildfires will result in periods of moderate to heavy
smoke at times across the advisory area. The heaviest smoke is
expected for locations in areas near the fires at lower
elevations, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.
This includes the Mad Creek drainage from the Middle Fork fire
southwestward to Routt County Road 129 between Steamboat Springs
and Clark, Poudre Canyon Road and Red Feather Lakes to the
northeast and east of the Cameron Peak fire, and locations along
the Colorado-Wyoming state line in northern Jackson County.
HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very young, and the elderly. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

NWS Denver CO
Air Quality Alert issued September 25 at 6:10PM MDT by NWS Denver CO
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...
WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.
WHERE...northern portions of Eagle and Summit Counties, and
southern Grand County. Locations include, but are not limited to
Wolcott, Tabernash, Fraser, Winter Park, Parshall and Kremmling.
WHEN...200 PM Friday September 25 to 900 AM Saturday September 26
IMPACTS...Areas of moderate to heavy smoke have been observed
across portions of northern Eagle and Summit Counties, and
southern Grand County due to the 4 Eagle wildfire in Eagle County,
and the Williams Fork wildfire in Grand County. Winds near these
fires will come from the west throughout the afternoon and evening
hours on Friday, transporting smoke to areas to the east of the
fires locations. By late Friday night, winds are expected to
decrease, and smoke will begin to drain into lower lying areas
surrounding both fires. This will bring longer duration, heavy
smoke through early Saturday morning to locations along Ute Pass
Road and into the Parshall area from the Williams Fork fire; and
to Wolcott and locations along I-70 in this area from the 4 Eagle
fire.

WHAT...Action Day for Particulates.
WHERE...Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western
Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld Counties
WHEN...400 PM Friday September 25 to 400 PM Saturday September 26
IMPACTS...Action Day for Particulates is now in effect for the
seven-county Denver-Boulder metropolitan area. Requests to limit
driving of non- ZEV vehicles (i.e., gas or diesel) are now in
effect until at least 4 PM Saturday, September 26, 2020. Wildfire
smoke from several fires in northern and central Colorado has
increased fine particulate concentrations in the northern Colorado
Front Range region, including the Denver Metro area, Longmont, Ft.
Collins, and Greeley. Concentrations of fine particulates in these
areas may reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category at
times on Friday and Saturday. For areas included in this advisory
that are not expected to exceed the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
(USG) air quality designation, we request that activities, such as
driving non-ZEV vehicles (i.e., gas or diesel), be reduced to
lessen the impacts on neighboring air quality. Additional air
pollution in this region may directly worsen air quality or
contribute to precursors which may also adversely affect air
quality. For Colorado air quality conditions, forecasts and
advisories, visit:
https://www.colorado.gov/airquality/colorado_summary.aspx
HEALTH INFORMATION...Increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms
in sensitive individuals, aggravation of heart or lung disease and
premature mortality in people with cardiopulmonary disease and
older adults. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and
children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
