NWS Denver CO
Air Quality Alert issued September 26 at 3:10PM MDT by NWS Denver CO
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...
WHAT...Action Day for Particulates.
WHERE...Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western
Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld Counties
WHEN...400 PM Friday September 25 to 400 PM Saturday September 26
IMPACTS...Action Day for Particulates is now in effect for the
seven-county Denver-Boulder metropolitan area. Requests to limit
driving of non- ZEV vehicles (i.e., gas or diesel) are now in
effect until at least 4 PM Saturday, September 26, 2020. Wildfire
smoke from several fires in northern and central Colorado has
increased fine particulate concentrations in the northern Colorado
Front Range region, including the Denver Metro area, Longmont, Ft.
Collins, and Greeley. Concentrations of fine particulates in these
areas may reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category at
times on Friday and Saturday. For areas included in this advisory
that are not expected to exceed the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
(USG) air quality designation, we request that activities, such as
driving non-ZEV vehicles (i.e., gas or diesel), be reduced to
lessen the impacts on neighboring air quality. Additional air
pollution in this region may directly worsen air quality or
contribute to precursors which may also adversely affect air
quality. For Colorado air quality conditions, forecasts and
advisories, visit:
https://www.colorado.gov/airquality/colorado_summary.aspx
HEALTH INFORMATION...Increasing likelihood of respiratory symptoms
in sensitive individuals, aggravation of heart or lung disease and
premature mortality in people with cardiopulmonary disease and
older adults. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and
children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.

NWS Denver CO
Air Quality Alert issued September 26 at 3:10PM MDT by NWS Denver CO
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...
WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.
WHERE...Routt, Jackson, Larimer, Weld, Logan, and Sedgwick
counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Steamboat
Springs, Clark, Walden, Cowdrey, Red Feather Lakes, Rustic,
Wellington, Fort Collins, Greeley, Sterling, and Julesburg.
WHEN...900 AM Saturday September 26 to 900 AM Sunday September 27
IMPACTS...Increased fire activity at the Middle Fork, Mullen, and
Cameron Peak wildfires will result in periods of moderate to heavy
smoke at times across the advisory area. Winds near these fires
will come from the west throughout the day on Saturday and
overnight Saturday night, transporting smoke to areas to the east
of the fires locations. The heaviest smoke is expected for
locations in areas near the fires at lower elevations,
particularly during overnight and early morning hours. However,
all areas downwind of these fires may be impacted by periods of
moderate to heavy smoke on Saturday and Sunday.
HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very young, and the elderly. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

NWS Grand Junction CO
Air Quality Alert issued September 26 at 3:10PM MDT by NWS Grand Junction CO

NWS Sacramento CA
Red Flag Warning issued September 26 at 2:30PM PDT until September 28 at 9:00PM PDT by NWS Sacramento CA
...Extreme Fire Weather Conditions Late Saturday Evening through
Monday...
.Gusty northerly and easterly winds will develop over portions of
the Sacramento Valley, the northern Sierra and western foothills,
and the Coastal Range today and continue through Monday. Daytime
humidities will be extremely low in the single digits to teens
with poor overnight humidity recoveries.
The combination of wind, low humidity, and hot conditions will
result in extreme fire weather conditions. This type of extreme
fire weather condition only occurs a few times a year. These
conditions may impact ongoing wildfires. Extreme caution should
be taken to prevent new fire starts.
* AFFECTED AREA...Portions of interior northern California
including the west side of the Sacramento Valley, the Coastal
Range, the western Sierra Nevada and foothills, and the Delta.
* WIND...North to east winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts from 40 to
45 mph. Stronger gusts up to to 55 mph may be possible
through favored gaps and canyons.
Strongest winds expected Saturday night through Sunday, over the
west side of the Sacramento Valley and Sunday night through
early Monday over the Sierra foothills.
* HUMIDITY...Minimum daytime humidity of 5 to 20 percent. Maximum
overnight humidity between 15 and 40 percent.
* IMPACTS...Numerous wildfires are already occurring. Extreme
fire safety precautions should be exercised to prevent any
additional fires. Outdoor burning should be avoided.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
