NWS Melbourne FL
Coastal Flood Advisory issued November 16 at 8:06PM EST until November 17 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Melbourne FL
* WHAT...Minor coastal flooding.
* WHERE...Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin
counties.
* WHEN...until 4 PM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Some flooding of low-lying lots, parks and roadways
may occur near the shoreline around times of high tide. At
area beaches, a strong southward flowing longshore current
will exist today, which can knock swimmers off the sandbar
into deeper water and make them more susceptible to rip
currents.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Above normal high tides will continue
through early this week. The highest of the high tides cycles
will occur during the morning hours, between 900 AM and 930 AM
Tuesday.
Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate
flooding of low areas along the shore. Do not drive around
barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary
actions to protect flood-prone property.
