NWS Miami FL
Flood Advisory issued November 17 at 3:01AM EST until November 17 at 6:00AM EST by NWS Miami FL
The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
East Central Palm Beach County in southeastern Florida...
* Until 600 AM EST.
* At 301 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth, Palm Beach,
Highland Beach, Ocean Ridge, Greenacres, Lantana, Atlantis,
Village Of Golf, Dunes Road, Hypoluxo, South Palm Beach, Gulf
Stream, Briny Breezes, Manalapan, Seminole Manor and Lake Worth
Corridor.
Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

NWS Melbourne FL
Coastal Flood Advisory issued November 17 at 3:06AM EST until November 17 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Melbourne FL
* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding.
For the Beach Hazards Statement, strong southward flowing
longshore current and a Moderate Risk for rip currents.
* WHERE...Southern Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin,
Coastal Volusia and Northern Brevard Counties.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 4 PM EST this
afternoon. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through this
evening.
* IMPACTS...Some flooding of low-lying lots, parks and roadways
may occur near the shoreline around times of high tide. At area
beaches, a strong southward flowing longshore current will exist
today, which can knock swimmers off the sandbar into deeper
water and make them more susceptible to rip currents.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The highest of the high tides cycles today
will occur during the morning hours, around 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate
minor flooding of low areas along the shore.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
