.A storm system will affect the region thru Wednesday bringing
heavy snow and strong winds to the northern Sierra Nevada and
southern Cascade Range. 1 to 2 feet of snow is expected with gusts
of 50 to 60 mph, or higher, across the higher elevations. Snow
levels will start out around 6500 to 7500 feet today, then lower
slightly Wednesday.
Significant disruptions to travel are likely across the northern
Sierra highway passes late Tuesday into Wednesday. Be prepared
for long delays, possible road closures and power outages.
* WHAT...Heavy wet snow expected. Travel will be very difficult.
Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of 1
to 2 feet, with localized amounts up to 3 feet, are expected.
* WHERE...Western Plumas County and Lassen Volcanic National Park.
* WHEN...10 AM today to 6 PM Wednesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times. Strong winds are expected today with gusts
over 40 mph possible across the higher elevations.

At 654 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated a shower, capable of producing
winds to around 30 knots. This shower was located 22 nm east of
Hillsboro Beach, or 22 nm east of Boca Raton, moving south at 15
knots.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until this storm passes.
Waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on the alert in
case warnings are issued for waterspout development.
