NWS Peachtree City GA
Special Weather Statement issued November 30 at 5:53AM EST by NWS Peachtree City GA
Strong low pressure moving through the southern Appalachians will
bring moisture and very cold temperatures to north and central
Georgia. Rain will mix with and change to snow today and tonight
generally north of an Atlanta to Gainesville line. With the cold
temperatures aloft...any accumulating snow will be more likely at
elevations above 2000 feet. Temperatures are expected to fall
during the day...reaching into the upper 20s and lower 30s by
early evening. Any light snow accumulations could lead to
hazardous road conditions. Snow accumulations should remain around
an inch or less with locally higher amounts possible in higher
elevations and on west and northwest facing slopes.
In addition...the cold temperatures and strong winds of 15-20 mph
with gusts to near 30 mph will cause wind chill values to fall
into the teens and 20s tonight and Tuesday morning. Be sure to
dress appropriately and avoid prolonged exposure.
Stay tuned to the latest forecasts for more information
on the potentially hazardous storm system.
