NWS Medford OR
Freezing Fog Advisory issued January 19 at 2:19AM PST until January 19 at 10:00AM PST by NWS Medford OR
* WHAT...Visibility a quarter of a mile or less, at times, in fog
and freezing fog.
* WHERE...Ashland, Grants Pass, portions of Medford that are
primarily above 1500 foot elevations, other portions of the
Bear Creek portion of the Rogue Valley, other portions of the
Illinois Valley, and portions of the Applegate Valley.
* WHEN...Until 10 AM PST this morning.
* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility
and potential frost on bridges.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of dense fog and freezing fog this
morning will vary by location, as the fog is on the valley floor
in some areas, but elevated, on the hillsides, in other areas.
Many areas have dropped or will drop to temperatures at or below
freezing leading to the potential of slick conditions due to
light ice accumulation.
* View the hazard area in detail at
https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mfr/HAZARD
* Slow down and give 3 times as much space as normal between
vehicles.
* Shaded areas may be more slippery than unshaded areas.
* Use low beams. High beams reflect back fog making visibility
worse for you and other drivers.
* Fog makes objects appear farther away than they are.
* Be ready for low visibility by keeping your headlights clean.
* Don't use cruise control. Most crashes occur because the
driver is going too fast for weather conditions.

NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
High Surf Advisory issued January 19 at 2:22AM PST until January 19 at 10:00PM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet with local sets to 10
feet with dangerous rip currents, highest on west-facing
beaches. Surf will slowly subside this afternoon and evening.
* WHERE...Los Angeles County Coast and Catalina and Santa
Barbara Islands.
* WHEN...Until 10 PM PST this evening.
* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of drowning. There will be
dangerous rip currents they can pull swimmers and surfers out to
sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off
beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught
in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the
current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If
unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
