...WINTER STORM EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
AND RABUN COUNTY THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...
...WINTER STORM WATCH ISSUED FOR TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY
FOR PORTIONS OF THE MOUNTAINS...
.A storm system will push through the region today. This combined
with cold temperatures will bring a wintry mix of accumulating
snow, sleet, and freezing rain to portions of North Carolina and
far northeast Georgia. Almost all areas will change to rain by
midday Sunday.
The upper low associated with this system will bring the
potential for periods of heavy snow to the North Carolina
mountains, focused near the Tennessee border late tonight through
early Tuesday.
Temperatures warming above freezing has allowed for precipitation
to change over to all rain.

NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Winter Storm Watch issued January 31 at 8:41AM EST until February 2 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
...WINTER STORM EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, mixed precipitation.
Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice
accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. For the Winter
Storm Watch, heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of
2 to 5 inches in the valleys with 6 to 10 inches possible at
higher elevations.
* WHERE...Madison County.
* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until noon EST today.
For the Winter Storm Watch, from late tonight through Tuesday
afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
commute.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
