NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Winter Storm Watch issued January 31 at 11:45AM EST until February 2 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
...WINTER STORM EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...
...WINTER STORM WATCH ISSUED FOR TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY
FOR PORTIONS OF THE MOUNTAINS...
.A storm system will push through the region today. This combined
with cold temperatures will bring a wintry mix of accumulating
snow, sleet, and freezing rain to portions of North Carolina.
Almost all areas will change to rain by midday Sunday.
The upper low associated with this system will bring the
potential for periods of heavy snow to the North Carolina
mountains, focused near the Tennessee border late tonight through
early Tuesday.
* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow possible. Total
snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches with locally higher
amounts possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Haywood and Swain Counties.
* WHEN...From late tonight through Tuesday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
commute.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite source of
weather information for the latest updates. Additional details

NWS Medford OR
Flood Watch issued January 31 at 8:54AM PST until February 2 at 4:00AM PST by NWS Medford OR
Heavy rainfall on existing snowpack will result in increased
run-off from the combination of heavy rainfall and snow melt. Flows
in streams, creeks, and rivers are expected to increase quickly and
near critical levels.
The Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of northern California, including the following area,
Western Siskiyou County.
* Through late Monday night
* Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected through
Tuesday morning resulting in storm total rainfall amounts of 2 to
as much as 6 inches across much of western Siskiyou County near,
over portions of, and
west of the Marble Mountains. Recent significant snowfall in the
mountains below 6,000 foot elevations is expected to receive rain
on it as snow levels rise into the
5,000 to 6,000 foot range, increasing run-off across the area.
Areas below 5,000 foot elevations are expected to see significant
melting of the snowpack.
* Small streams and creeks could reach bankful or even flood during
this time period. Areas with poor drainage could see significant
ponding of water in low lying areas. No main stem river flooding
is expected.
Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert
for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of southwest Oregon, including the following areas,
Curry County Coast, Eastern Curry County and Josephine County and
South Central Oregon Coast.
* Through late Monday night
* Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected through
Tuesday morning resulting in storm total rainfall amounts of 5 to
9 inches across Curry County, 3 to 7 inches across Coos County,
and 2 to 8 inches across Josephine County. Recent significant
snowfall in the mountains is also expected to melt substantially
as snow levels rise into the 5,000 to 6,000 foot range, increasing
run-off across the area.
* Small streams and creeks could reach bankful or even flood during
this time period and urban areas could see significant ponding
water in low lying areas and areas with poor drainage. Currently
there is concern that the South Fork of the Coquille River at
Myrtle Point and the Coquille River at Coquille could peak between
Action Stage and Flood Stage.
