NWS Bismarck ND
Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 6:12AM CST by NWS Bismarck ND
A clipper system has started to develop light snow across
northwestern North Dakota this morning. Look for this snow to
continue through much of the morning hours before pushing
southeast later this morning through the afternoon. Snow
accumulations of 1 to 2 inches can be expected today, with
visibilities reduced to around a mile at times. Breezy winds later
today could bring some blowing of fresh snow as well. Those
traveling should take it slow when encountering any snow.

NWS Blacksburg VA
Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 7:26AM EST by NWS Blacksburg VA
Light snow fell across much of the foothills and piedmont of North
Carolina and into Southside Virginia late Friday evening. Snowfall
was confined generally to areas east of a line from Wilkesboro,
to Stuart, to Martinsville, to Danville, to Charlotte Court House.
Snowfall amounts ranged from 1/4 to 1/2 inch around Wilkesboro,
Pilot Mountain, Danbury, King, Reidsville, and Danville to 1 inch
at Stuart. Then further east from Charlotte Court House to South
Boston to Yanceyville, snowfall ranged from 1 to 2 inches.
Temperatures will remain well below freezing this morning. In
fact it was bitterly cold this morning with temperatures in the
mid and upper teens. Untreated roads and walkways will remain
slick and hazardous through the morning hours. Temperatures will
struggle to even rise above freezing this afternoon.
Travel through this region is discouraged this morning. If you
must travel in this area this morning, please use extreme caution,
reduce speed, leave extra distance between you and the vehicle in
front of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
Given the bitterly cold temperatures, conditions will be slow to
improve.
In addition, with the bitter cold temperatures, please consider
keeping an extra blanket in your vehicle as well as a full set of
winter weather attire, such as a heavy coat, gloves, ear muffs, a
scarf and/or hat with you in the event that you become stranded.

NWS Blacksburg VA
Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 7:28AM EST by NWS Blacksburg VA
CCA

NWS Green Bay WI
Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 6:28AM CST by NWS Green Bay WI
Light snow will continue to taper off early this morning, with
little additional accumulation expected. Roads remain snow covered
and slippery in spots. Pavement temperatures are very cold due to
the recent cold snap, limiting the effectiveness of melting agents.
As a result, locally hazardous travel conditions will linger this
morning.
If traveling this morning, use caution and allow a little extra
time to reach your destination. Be especially careful near
intersections where the light snow could get compressed into a
layer of glare ice.

NWS Anchorage AK
Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 3:44AM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK
Two active storm systems and their associated fronts will continue
to bring winter weather across Southwest Alaska. Additional snow
accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected for much of the
Southwest as the second front tracks north today, with higher
totals possible near the Kuskokwim Mountains. Snow may continue to
mix with freezing rain or transition to rain, leading to lower
snowfall totals. Some uncertainty remains regarding how and where
this transition will set up. Current thinking places the
transition zone from Dillingham to King Salmon and then Goodnews
Bay to Sleetmute, with rain further south. Any wintry mix is
expected to be brief with minimal ice accumulations.
As cold air returns behind the low later today, precipitation
will begin gradually transitioning back to snow from west to east.
Another low pressure system will move into the Southwest from
Sunday into Monday, sending warmer air north once again with the
potential for several more inches of snow and possible mixed
precipitation.

While the snow ended several hours ago, area roadways are likely
to remain slick through midday as temperatures slowly rise through

especially on untreated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses. Allow
