of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from near Ashtabula to 10 nm northwest
of Lorain Harbor, moving east at 10 knots.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

At 1009 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Sacandaga Campground, or 18 miles southeast of Speculator, moving
east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Warrensburg, Lake George Village, Wells, Day Center, Bolton Landing,
Lake Luzerne Campground, Sacandaga Campground, Glens Falls North,
Queensbury, Kingsbury, Mount Hope, Bolton, Hadley, Thurman, Lake
George, Stony Creek, Fort Ann, Harrisburg, Hope and Thurman Station.
This includes Interstate 87 between exits 20 and 24.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
If on or near Lake George or Lake Luzerne, get out of the water and
move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out
to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
this storm passes.

The National Weather Service in Morristown has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Hamblen County in east Tennessee...
* Until noon EDT.
* At 1018 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the
warned area throughout this morning. Between 3 and 5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are
possible in the warned area with most of the rain having ended.
Flash flooding is expected to continue due to runoff from earlier
heavy rainfall.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain from earlier.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Morristown, Bean Station, Russellville and Lowland.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* WHERE...Coastal Pender and Coastal New Hanover Counties.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is a high risk of rip currents. Life
threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone. Rip
currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins,
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol
flags and signs.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

Coastal waters from the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to

At 920 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located
7 nm southwest of Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, or 21 nm southeast of
Timbalier Island, moving northeast at 20 knots.
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until this storm passes.
Waterspouts can quickly develop in these storms and could pose a
serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may be required
if a waterspout is detected. Boaters should consider heading for
shore before these storms arrive.

near Sharon Springs, or 7 miles west of Cobleskill, moving northeast
at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Cobleskill, Fonda, Duanesburg, Richmondville, Sharon Springs,
Delanson, Ames, Tribes Hill, Central Bridge, Glen, Carlisle, Sharon,
Seward, Charleston, Fultonville, Esperance, Zeh Corners, Beekman
Corners, West Richmondville and Rockwell Corners.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 88 between exits 20 and 22.
Interstate 90 near exit 28.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Pearl River Near Pearl River.
* WHEN...From this evening until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Lower portions of streets in River Gardens
Subdivision will begin to flood. Secondary roads to the river and
throughout Honey Island Swamp will remain inundated. Property in
the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes
along the left bank. The Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge
will be closed to hunting at the 15.5 foot stage.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 13.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this evening and continue rising to 17.8 feet Saturday,
September 10.
- Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
17.8 feet on 02/27/2003.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast. This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Pearl River Near Bogalusa.
* WHEN...Until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Woodlands and crop acreage along the river
will be flooded. The Bogue Chitto Wildlife Management area will be
inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads.
At 21 feet, property east of Highway 21 along Bogalusa Creek will
begin to flood. Bogalusa Creek will back up threatening the Sewage
Treatment Plant. Homes south of Bogalusa Creek and east of Highway
21 will flood.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 18.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 22.0 feet
Thursday, September 08.
- Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
