Areas of fog remain across the Virginia piedmont early this
morning, and will persist through around 8 am EDT, with improving
conditions thereafter. Visibilities will average between one half
mile and two miles, but will be locally reduced to one quarter
mile at times, especially over low lying locations.
Motorists should be alert for sudden changes in visibility due to
the areas of dense fog. Drive at reduced speeds and use low beam
headlights only.

.A weather pattern conducive for large fire growth will continue
through Wednesday as a broad trough remains over the western
United States keeping the flow over New Mexico dry and windy.
The strongest winds are forecast along and east of the central
mountain chain today, over northern areas and the central
mountains and highlands Tuesday, then along and east of the
central mountain chain again Wednesday. Most lower elevation
locations east of the continental divide will experience between 5
and 10 hours of single digit humidities on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag
Warning...which is in effect from 10 AM TO 9 PM today and Tuesday.
A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued for Wednesday morning
through Wednesday evening. The Fire Weather Watch for Tuesday is
no longer in effect.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast and East central Plains (Zones 104
and 126), Sangre de Cristo and Sandia/Manzano Mountains (Zones
122 and 124), and the Central and Northeast Highlands (Zones 13
and 125) today and Tuesday from 10 AM until 9 PM, and Wednesday
from 11 AM until 8 PM.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...For today, west 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55
mph, except around 60 mph in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and
around Clines Corners. For Tuesday, west and southwest 20 to 35
mph with gusts up to 55 mph, except around 60 mph in the Sangre
de Cristo Mountains and Northeast Highlands. For Wednesday, west
and northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 5 and 10 percent
each day.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

Cascades.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels will be near the passes today,
then they will fall to around 3500 feet and locally lower
tonight into Tuesday morning. Roads that may be wet during the
day today will likely become snow and ice covered tonight into
early Tuesday morning.
