reaching the upper 90s to lower 100s. Far inland temperatures
may reach 110 degrees.
* WHERE...Interior portions of the North Bay, East Bay, and
South Bay, as well as interior portions of Monterey and San
Benito counties.
* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 11 PM PDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Widespread moderate with isolated major HeatRisk
across inland areas. This level of heat affects individuals
sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling
and/or adequate hydration.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

A passing shortwave and flow becoming more southerly will bring
increased instability to the region on Saturday. This instability
in combination with hot and dry conditions will result in the
potential for extreme fire behavior, particularly for any
currently ongoing fires in the region.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 642 Southern Blue and
Strawberry Mountains.
* TIMING...Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM.
* WINDS...Northeast 5 to 10 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...Up to 100.
* IMPACTS...Current fires will exhibit extreme fire behavior.
* HAINES...As high as 6.
