NWS Pittsburgh PA
Special Weather Statement issued January 8 at 9:01PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
Snow showers will move across portions of the region over the next
8 hours. Heavier showers may cause brief, but sharp reductions in
visibility, as well as light accumulations on area roadways.
Motorists should be advised of the potential for rapidly changing
road and visibility conditions. Roads, and especially bridges and
overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 16 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Alabama, northwest
Florida, and southeast Mississippi.
* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 9 AM CST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Wind chills below 25 degrees can be hazardous with long

NWS Tiyan GU
Special Weather Statement issued January 9 at 12:54PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU
Choppy seas and elevated surf continue across the Marshall Islands
due to building northeast winds and swell, along with long-period
north swell generated by storms moving across the north Pacific. Seas
and surf will build further, probably peaking on Friday, then
diminishing over the weekend.
Model guidance indicates the north swell will move through with a
period 12 to 15 seconds and height of at least 5 to 7 feet, creating
hazardous surf around 12 feet with minor coastal inundation up to a
foot, especially along north facing shores during high tide. All of
the atolls with lagoons, such as Majuro and Kwajalein, should watch
for inundation along shores facing into the lagoon, especially shores
facing northward as high surf pushes water into the lagoon from the
north. All islands of the Marshall Islands have the potential to see
impacts from this north swell event, so be mindful when near the
water or traveling along roads near north facing shores.
Also, with the expected increase in trade winds and swell waves
during this same time, inter-island travel in small boats will be
hazardous with seas of at least 10 feet and higher at times, and
winds around 25 knots.
Residents should monitor local sea conditions and forecasts through
the end of this week. Be alert for minor flooding and debris on
roads and property near shores, along with hazardous surfing,
swimming, and boating conditions. Stay up to date with information
from your Weather Service Office in Majuro, and any information
shared from local emergency management offices. The latest Majuro
forecasts can be found at weather.gov/gum/PublicForecasts.

NWS Bismarck ND
Special Weather Statement issued January 8 at 8:55PM CST by NWS Bismarck ND
An area of precipitation will continue to move southeast through
western and central North Dakota overnight. A mix of rain,
freezing rain and snow are all possible along the leading edge of
precipitation. Precipitation is expected to transition to all
snow after midnight. It is possible that roads, sidewalks and
parking lots could become icy. Late tonight as precipitation turns
to all snow and winds increase, patchy blowing snow could lead to
reduced visibilities. If you have travel plans tonight, be sure
to check the latest road conditions. Slow down and allow extra
time to reach your destination.
